The status feed would be like a little announcement board somewhere on the member's profile, which would serve as an area where the member would be able to post announcements to those who may be interested in what the member is doing, whether it be Minecraft-related or completely irrelevant.
Just a little suggestion that I would think would enhance the member profiles! :)
