Q: Why DTN is heavily Japanese-themed?

A:

Short answer: As for now, the latest major update revolves around the theme but don't worry, there will be BIGGER and BETTER future updates that will balance out the flavor!



Long answer: Most of DTN's technical advances like the Animation system, and the new Talents, and Accessories are all inspired by a Japanese-themed game (which you all may know about is OKAMI). We wanted to honor and embrace the Japanese culture as well as make the gameplay more unique. Again, our aim is loud and clear that DTN is a Dog mod, not a Japanese mod.




Q: Should I remove the Old DoggyTalents before installing this?

A: DoggyTalentsNext and DoggyTalents cannot co-exist since they share the same Dog entity ID, therefore DoggyTalents must be removed when installing this mod. However, all of your DoggyTalents Dogs will become DTN Dogs after that so you will not lose your dogs.


Q: How do I get a trained dog?

A: Use a Training Treat on a Vanilla Wolf (Tamed or Untamed), a Stick then can be used to access his menu.




Q: How do I take off a Dog's Accessory?

A: Right-click your pup with a Stick, then navigate to Style tab -> Accessories, then click on the Accessory that you want to take off.




Q: Why isn't the Dog Bed showing up in the recipe/creative menu?

A: (DTN 1.16.3+):

- The Beds in Creative are randomly generated to a certain limit whenever the player boots up the world to avoid unnecessarily bloating the menu. Since the dev wanted to make it so every wood type is applicable, including modded ones.


- Even if the beds aren't showing up on the menu, it is possible to craft them using this recipe: width=200

(not limited to planks, but logs, stripped logs, crimson/warped stems, and modded woods as well.)

Q: How do Immortal Dogs work?

Q: How does hunger work?

A: A dog can have a maximum of 120 Hunger points, the meat will increase their Nourishment Point, (Happy Eater talent will increase the amount got from these foods and allow them to eat fish). As long as they have hunger, they will slowly regenerate health and when a dog is sitting it will slowly regenerate hunger. If the dog's hunger drops below 11, the dog will beg you for food and his speed will be drastically decreased, at zero, the dog will take damage (basically starving) according to the difficulty the world is in.

Integrate Official Wolf Variants for DTN Dogs:
+ Each dog will now be one of the Official Variants released:
[​Pale, Chestnut, Striped, Rusty, Woods, Ashen, Snowy, Spotted, Black]
+ The Variant system implemented on the Dog will be independent of the Skin system. The corresponding texture of the variant the dog is will be rendered instead of the usual Pale skin when custom skins are not used, in other words, when the dog uses the "Classical" skin or a Missing skin, or when the player forced always_render_classical=true in config.
+ The Variant will be shown in the Dog Info GUI regardless if the Dog has Custom Skin on or not.
+ (Configurable) Dog summoned from Doggy Charm will be a random variant instead of just being Pale. (edited)When a Vanilla Wolf is trained into DTN Wolf:
+ It retains its variant.
+ It retains its Wolf Armor if wearing any. (1.20.5+)
+ It's Thick Collar will also be retained instead of the usual thin one. (1.20.5+)

Push Resisting mechanic Overhaul

+ Instead of forcing Zero delta Movement, the move speed will be capped
at a magnitude when Dog is idle resisting push
+ Dog won't resist push while is actually in hurting zone (ex: In lava itself)
allowing players to push Dog out. Dog will continue to not resist for 1s
after being out of hurting area.

Ranged Attack Mechanic for dogs

+ Dog can now carry out Ranged Attack aside Melee Attack.
+ Currently, this behaviour is available via the Doggy Tools Talents
where if a Dog is holding a Bow with any Arrows in its Hotbar OR Pack Puppy Inventory,
it will switch to Ranged Attack mode, and utilize the Bow to carry out the attack.

According to analysis and also the fact that the Dog hitbox width was never intended to exceed 1 block in the first place, the Cut Corner mechanic is now redundant and as observed, is the cause of some incident when the Dog trips and fall when doing sharp turn. This significantly improve the Dog pathfinding reliablity with minimal side effect.
#Remove Nutrition Limit when feeding Dog Meat food, allowing dogs to eat certain Meat food again Rotten Flesh however, is strictly prohibited.
#The Tag which shows the Dog's Owner when a player is Sneaking will no longer shown to the player if he is the Dog's owner.
#Hellhound Max now Immune to Freezing and can Melt Powered Snow.
#Incapacitated Dogs now Whine less when still being gravely injured, and being completely silent for the rest of the time, additionally the whining volume is significantly diminished to paint the state where the dog is half-unconcious and being too weak to do a normal whine. The dog whine frequency and volume will also be increased by a certain when the Dog is bandaged since it regained conciousness but still in pain.

#Revert Ammy and Hayabusa Model to Classical Style to be consistent with the rest of the Kusa(s) and compatible with Wolf Armor.
#Rebrand Incapacitated into Injured.
