I thought I do a review/recap of 1.3 so here it is:
Blocks:
Lets kick off with the fact that there is many new items and blocks.
Sandstone Stairs
The first of four new stairs. These were designed for the Sandstone Villages which was also added in 1.3.
More Wood Stairs
Added due to high demand these new wood stairs are great for people making structures out of different Wooden Planks.
Different Wooden Slabs
These are also good for people building structures out of Different types of Wood. The best thing about the wood slabs: You don't need a pickaxe to mine them (it also includes the original wood slab).
Ender Chest
This brand new chest lets you virtually have a inventory in the air. For example: if you place a diamond in one Ender Chest and then open another Ender Chest the diamond will be in that in one as well.
Emerald Ore
When mined drops an Emerald. Very rare block...
Block Of Emerald
Crafted with 9 Emeralds. It is a great decoration block.
Tripwire
Good News Redstoners! New Redstone Block! Tripwire is like a long hidden pressure plate. When you step on the tripwire it will activate a redstone signal. To set up a tripwire you need to put a tripwire hook on a block and another on the block at end and then place string in between.
Cocoa Plant
This new plant can grow on Jungle Trees. When destroyed drops 1-3 Cocoa Beans.
Other Block Changes:
-Gravel has a new texture
-The stair hitbox has changed.
-Many items can be placed on upside down slabs.
-Furnaces now support Wood Tools
-Furnaces will now give you the bucket back when using a lava bucket as fuel
-You can rotate Wood Logs
-Ice and Glass Panes is obtainable with Silk touch enchantment
-TNT GIVES YOU KNOCKBACK
-Spawners are more customizable (MCEditers!)
-More Small Fixes
Items:
Book And Quill
This new block lets you write your own Books. You need a book and an Ink Sac to craft.
Emeralds
A currency item...
Other Item Changes:
-There is a new Golden Apple...
-String can be placed on the ground
-Cocoa Beans have a new texture
-Crafting Books now requires one bit of leather
-Buckets and Signs stack up to 16
-Boats aren't broken by lilypads anymore
-More Small Changes
Other Stuff:
Villager Trading
Villagers can now trade with you with Emeralds and other items. Priests can also enchant tools for you.
Demo Mode
Mojang added a new Demo Mode for non-premium members. It lasts 5 game days.
New Creative Menu
They redesigned the creative menu. It now includes a tab to let you change your Armor.
Adventure Mode
This new gamemode doesn't let you break any blocks. Mojang has stated that it needs a lot of work
Sandstone Villages
These villages are quite obvious...
Creeper/TNT Changes
Creeper damage has changed. The harder difficulty, the more damage. Also, Explosions give you knockback.

Pick Block
The Pick Block key has improved. When Pick Blocking a mob you get their mob egg.
Enchanting
The highest level you can now get is 30. Mining some ores and smelting now give you experience.
Cheats and Bonus Chest
Feel like cheating? Just activate Cheats and you have most of the vanilla multiplayer commands. Feel like cheating even more? Activate Bonus Chest and get a generous chest full of beginner items like wood and apples.
Jungle Temples
This is a new structure found in Jungle Biomes...
Pyramids
This is a new structure found in Desert Biomes....
And Finally... Multiplayer Additions
Bug Fixes
Mojang worked very hard on fixing tons of bugs. Some include less mob glitches to easier boats. You try and find them all!
Server Textures
There is a new option for manual servers. You have it so when people log in they can use and download a chosen Texture Pack.
Teleportation
You can now TP to certain coordinates by /tp
Chat
There is new chat options to allow you to disable chat and turn links off
And Finally
LAN Multiplayer
Got a friend over and don't know how to set up a proper server. Just go on your singleplayer world press escape and click Open to LAN. Ta-Da! Unfortunately, this had created Many bugs. So... :(
There is probably a couple of things that I missed but they are only small things.
What I Think Of 1.3
1.3 is one of the best updates in a while. I'm gonna get real hooked to making adventure maps with Adventure Mode and the Book and Quill. It's also nice to know that Mojang were listening to people when they added Cheats. The new creative menu is much better than the old one and is very easy to use. Emeralds are just cool. The Ender Chest is a good idea and is good for moving house or backing up your Diamond Sword (or Emeralds). Talk about the new wooden Slabs and stairs...
1.3 is just great and I'm glad it Finally came. Thank You Mojang!

UPDATE 1.3.2
This update fixed many bugs like random suffocating, falling in the nether and more. It also added that Large Oak Trees now generate with sideways logs. Also pressing F1 on the server list hides the IPs.
