1.5.0:
1: Redstone update:
a. Redstone Comparator
The Redstone Comparator originally announced as the Capacitor, is a block for use with redstone circuitry, planned to be added in the Redstone Update. It has two inputs: one from the back ('signal A') and one from the side ('signal B'). If signal B is stronger than signal A, there will be no output. Otherwise, it can be set to either repeat signal A at its current strength, or output the difference between both inputs in subtraction mode.
craft:
b. Hooper:
The hopper is a block which moves items into and out of containers, planned to be added in the Redstone Update.
Craft:
c. Dropper
The dropper is a block that drops an item from its inventory as an entity (as if it were dropped by the player) each time it is powered. If there is a chest immediately in front of the dropper when it is powered, it will instead store the item within. A dropper can drop items through a glass block in front of it.
craft:
d. Daylight Sensor
A Daylight Sensor is a block for use with redstone circuitry, planned to be added in the Redstone Update. It works like a solar panel. It emits a redstone signal if it is bright enough (sunlight level) to do so. The strength of the redstone signal varies by the time of day. For example, the sensor will emit redstone for 15 blocks at midday but roughly 5 blocks at evening. The daylight detector emits a redstone current to any/all blocks placed directly (within 1 block) above/below/next to it.
craft:
e. Trapped Chest
Trapped Chests are blocks which emit a redstone signal from all sides when opened, at a strength of one block per player using it up to 15 players. The Trapped Chest can be told apart from a regular chest by a slight orange tint around the latch and a red line on the rim of the opened chest. Trapped Chests can be made into double Trapped Chests, and are able to be placed adjacent to normal chests without interfering, allowing two chests, or double chests, to be placed adjacent to each other. If the trapped chest is destroyed while it is opened by at least one player, the game crashes.
Craft:
f. Weighted Pressure Plate
A weighted pressure plate is a block similar in function to regular pressure plates, except only items can activate them, and the amount of items on the plate determines the strength of the redstone signal emitted. The weighted pressure plate comes in 2 variants, a light version (gold) and a heavy version (iron).
craft:
g. Block of Redstone
Blocks of Redstone is a mineral block and act as piston-movable redstone power sources which cannot be turned off. When power is applied to the block, it is unaffected and will still output a redstone pulse regardless. However, because of the way blocks act, it cannot power blocks adjacent to it.
Craft:
h. Scoreboard
The scoreboard system is a complex gameplay mechanic intended mostly for map makers. It is used via commands and command blocks.
i. Quartz
Nether Quartz is a Nether exclusive item obtained by mining Nether Quartz Ore. This item had been added in snapshot 13w01a and will be released in the Redstone Update (1.5). Nether quartz are the essential ingredients to create redstone comparators, daylight sensors, and the Block of Quartz.
