Bats... one of the most useless mob in the game.. most people hates them, but i found 5 uses of them, both on survival and on creative modes.
1. Target practice :
Have no friend? need a target for bow shooting? then the bats are good for you! bats' move are hardly predicted, it will sharpen your skill in archery for sure!
2. Pet :
Why not have a pet bat just for the heck of it?
3. Flying mobs:
since 1.5, by using command blocks, any mobs can be stacked on top of bats, by making the bat invisible, it will make the mob fly
4. Spookiness :
Add bats on your horror maps, for more spookiness
5. Texture packs :
Bats can be retextured into many different things, think creatively, and the bat can be put into good use

1: to drive you insane with the squeakiness you thought you had escaped from in cod by playing Minecraft.
2: To pretend that Jeb is doing something. (I mean seriously, we could at least have bat poop to make glowing blocks)
3: to set themselves on fire and fly around squeaking
4: to convince you to spawn 1000 of them to scare your bud, and then the server crashes.
5: to be absolutely useless, as all these reasons are hardly a good reason to add a useless mob to the game.
at least steves had those fun wavy arms...
