Ok so I think we all know what shading is. It is when a skinner makes a skin more realistic. Shading is NOT limited to just skins, but mobs and blocks and maybe even items. Now making a shiny block is different than a dull block. A shiny block has the brightest colors in the middle, with darker colors going out. Now I use paint.NET to make my textures. So basically when shading a texture in paint.NET you make the color brighter/darker by moving the color brightness 2-5 clicks. Then when your happy with the shade you chose place it on down. Its really simple for blocks but for skins, you have to think about lighting. Since the darker areas are on the inside of the skin, not the outside. An item is the weirdest to shade. Take the minecraft stick. Now it is lighter on the outside darker on the inside: because that is shaded. So items are pretty much auto-shaded(Unless its a single colored item :O). So thats all for now.
