So there was this post just a minute ago  http://www.planetminecraft.com/forums/post889765.html#p889765 and it was going well I felt like there was a level of maturity and that it could stand.

But let me tell you something: It was a discussion of bronys now when these threads pop up people are like "lol this will be locked cuz of flame war" but the truth is they are only locked because people are too sensitive. A discussion can be mature however some levels of discussion require some slight offence and as soon as that is brought up in threads people are like "lock LOCK" it makes no sense how are we to tell our opinions if no one is willing to accept them? If people act like the slightest bit of hate can cause World War 3 how can we say what we want to say?

The problem is people completely drop the subject and talk about how it will end in flame war and this only happens because we can't accept mature discussion people think this site just stands as a bastion of child-like thoughts. Why can't I say what is on my mind if it involves a small level of negative comment? Another thing that bothers me is that people who I have been talking to, who seemed to understand points and didn't care what others said, become different people when its threaten with flame war. Again this makes no sense, as soon as the risk of flame war is brought up people don't give a s**t and more and that's why it gets locked, you break too easily and it completely derails the thread because you can't ignore those you think the thread will go to hell even though you experienced first hand that it cannot.

Doesn't the fact that it started out fine prove that it can stand? Now I wasn't in the thread for the first part however that doesn't excuse the fact that it could stand. I really want to see one of these thread exist but they quite simply won't because you are all too sensitive. Be open to negative comments and know the difference between flame and hate: hate is backed up with purpose and argument, Flame is not giving detail and just completely avoiding logic.

The real problem is Political Correctness. The liberals are slowly taking away our 1st amendment rights by repeatedly crying "fighting words!".(in America at least.) Does anyone remember when you could say the word "midget" and not face the wrath of every pinheaded liberal within earshot? They're sneaky too. They'll try to get you to support them by saying that you're hateful if you don't agree with them. Then they'll command all the useful idiots around them to converge on the alleged offender and shun them. Do a little research and you'll find the truth. So says I. Deal with it.

BRONIES BLAH BLAH that's all I ever hear about. If everyone just left them alone, we wouldn't be having this discussion.

It isn't just the Bronies, Though in my Opinion they are Half the Problem. You have to Remember that what seems to be 50% of the people on PMC are Children, Trolls and Trolling Children. Then you have the Bronies that seem to be offended no matter what you say.

exactly, but some of them like to constantly point out that they are bronies, which is why some people point them out, so who is to blame really? Its a paradox, in ways.

See, the problem is that Minecraft attracts a lot of people from younger audiences, and as everyone knows, the average person is pretty stupid. Combine that with life inexperience and no wisdom from people in that age category, then we get crap on a stick.

I have been thinking this for a long time! People being sensitive is what makes 'racist and sexist' jokes offensive. Honestly, if people could just be more tolerant of others views, (and humor), this world would be a lot better, and the interwebz would be a lot more peaceful.

Also... not ALL threads like this get locked

For example, this debate thread about homosexuality: http://www.planetminecraft.com/forums/serious-debate-t75465.html

I totally agree about this. There's also real, legit bronies who actually watch the show, and theres fake bronies who just say they watch the show and just say other people's opinions are stupid and are haters.

Nobody honestly gives a shit about bronies, there are just haters, and people who just want to make you mad. Haters gonna hate, and I honestly could care less about this whole issue.

Flame wars make people think "Oh, I'd better not show ANY reaction to this! That means I'll lose!" However, they might agree with you behind the computer. It's almost like racial profiling for a forum: Instead of drawing a conclusion with a person the moment you see 'em, it's a forum thread.

Put two enemies together in the same room, and they will eventually learn more about each other and this will lead to respect over others choices and differences.

This is just a theory that have been proven to work, but it's not guaranteed.

I agree that discussions are more than healthy, but flaming is something different. It doesn't come with anything useful. The only purpose is to hurt or offend, and it usually doesn't end well.

All this hatred against My Little Pony Bronies, is just an other example that humans are experts on hating each other. We're selfish animals that kills each other, basically.

Correct me if I am wrong and misunderstanding your comment because I don't want to get butthurt about your comment and then end up being wrong but it seems as if you're painting bronies as innocent and haters as haters out to start a fight. If you'd take a peak at my blog post I can give context to the rage on the non brony side of the isle and I don't personally consider any brony my enemy or myself a selfish animal looking to kill anything that opposes me.

I'd say that offends me but I don't want to belittle my feelings about being called anything less than I am, much in the way my grandmothers baptist church paint us as horrible sinners who'd be doomed without Jesus. I guess my response to you proves most are prone to argument if nothing else though.. Also great post Tairan, better to let things run their course and ban the morons than ban an intelligent mature discussion on the grounds of something it might become.

Ah, I see your what you are saying, and I agree completely. Bronies could be the ones who are flaming, too.

Even though they aren't discussing properly, the main problem in the conversation is still that bronies are bronies, and someone have a problem with it. If people could just accept others differences, there wouldn't be a discussion. So still, the blame is on the persons who find bronies, something extra that must be ended.

When it comes to my little part about humans being selfish murderers, I was more referring to our history and how we keep on fighting each other. I'm personally, sick of our way of handling disagreements, and this about bronies and people who hate them, reminds me of this.

I wasn't trying to tag all humans as selfish murderers, and I'm sorry if I offended you. I'm just so sick of how some humans are.

No it's fine lol, now that I understand your point a bit better it's understandable. The fact is bronies do often post where they're not wanted, like people who raid things with r34 posts. If someone goes out, posts unrelated content to a site or topic and then when people yell at them for it, especially if it's posted excessively, the bronies are the ones in the wrong, many bronies have stated they agree and most brony related things should be kept to the brony related forum sections and ect ect..

I hope I am not arguing in a way that bothers you and I'm not even trying to argue, just share my personal experience and collective thoughts from one of my brony rants and discussing things with bronies about their fanbase.

Seems a bit unfair for them to lock a thread just because of a few trolls.. My post had a decent bit of trolls but there posts were deleted, the mature people were left to discuss.. I don't really agree with censorship even in the case of morons attempting to incite hate but what ever allows us to have discussions about something interesting I'll back.

Ah dude it's not immature to watch something i mean you watch it because it makes you smile from ear to ear sometimes. What im getting at here is that you should tell people to deal with your choice rather then let them bad mouth you :/. (p.s I'm not really a fan of tv anymore everything reruns- -)

Nearly every topic there is has the ability to degrade into immaturity and name calling with enough time and enough stupid people contributing to the thread. I really would have liked to see where this thread (and a lot of
similarly-fated topics in the past) ended up, but it was closed out of
fear. Mods should keep an eye on things and remove the flame posts instead of censoring the whole thing for fear of one or two bad messages.

I read the whole thread, as a brony (bronie?) I was disappointed that I was too late to join into the conversation. I wanted to respond to one of your posts  "Anyway another thing I don't understand is why there are very little people who are just "fans" of the show. Why can't they just say they like it instead of becoming part of brony culture?".i thin that I have an answer, its because people who are interested in something as deviant as my little pony need to know that they are not alone, that they aren't some homosexual/pedophile or whatever negative thing races through their heads. falling into a community based around the show reminds you that there are "normal" people watching the show, that you are probably just as "normal" as everyone else. and in a society that hates anything different (im referring to general society, not just bronies) its good to know that you are normal. - hopefully this doesn't get deleted for being something that goes on a forum. - now in reference to your blog post. yea. we are to sensitive.

Words cannot explain your awesome logic and braveness. Tairan, i wish i was as brave as you are. You always speak your mind without any regrets at all and you stand up for your opinion. As far as the blog topic goes....well, lemme put it this way. Ever since i joined PMC, i couldn't act like the real me, as far as the internet goes. People are always so sensetive and strict about being "mature" on planetminecraft. As if we're forced to act all grown up. Its to a point that it doesn't even count as mature, some people take it over the line which ends up with our users just being plain boring. If you say a perverted joke or something like that then you will automatically get flamed. Most of our users here are from 10-16 years old, it's in our nature to be wild, open-minded, and etc.
