Hi everyone!

I've been in the process of moving recently so the skin updates have been slow (For people asking about the Harley Quinn skin I accidentally deleted...The computer it's on is still boxed up but I'd like to get it back up by next week ;< Sorry!!)

Anyway! I've started a cooking blog which you can find here --> Nerdy Girl Loves Pi It features recipes inspired by video/computer games. :3

Read on for directions for the bite-sized Minecraft blocks :]

Ingredients

For the pastries

1 pound cake (a type of cake, not pound as in the unit of weight) or other variety of cake, cut into cubes.

For the glaze
2 cups powdered sugar
2-4 tbsp hot milk
Lemon extract (or flavor of your choice)
Cocoa or chocolate powder (I didn't have either and substituted Nesquik drink mix; worked fine)
Green + blue food coloring

Extras

Baking rack (optional, but it makes drying the cakes a lot easier. I found mine for $1 at the Dollar Tree)
Parchment paper or plastic wrap to catch drippings

2 mixing bowls

Additional Notes

If your cake is too crumbly when you cut it, try freezing it for awhile, then letting it thaw for about 15 minutes before cutting it into blocks.

You can also make icing out of melted frosting, or candy melts (available at Walmart or Michael's Arts and Crafts).

Directions

1. Cut up your cake into block shapes with a knife or using cookie cutters. If you're using a high enough cake, try biscuit cutters instead - they're deeper and will make a more cube-like shape.

2. For the glaze, mix 2 cups powdered sugar and 2 tbsp hot milk in a bowl. If it's too thick, continue adding a few drops of milk at a time until you get it to a pourable consistency. Add flavored extract (if using).

Put about 1/4 of this mixture into a separate bowl (this will be your "grass" glaze).

3. In your first bowl, add 2 tbsp cocoa powder. Add more if you want it to be darker. In the other bowl, add 2 drops green food coloring and 1 drop blue food coloring to make your glaze a true "Minecraft grass green". If your glaze starts to harden, just mix it. If that doesn't work, add a few drops of hot milk and mix it in to get it pourable again.

4. This part's going to get a little messy (hence the lack of photos). First we'll dip the cakes in the green glaze. You just want to dip in the tops - the grass part of the block. Don't worry if they look kinda sloppy (mine did; Seriously I'm like level 1 in pastry decorating, it's actually pretty horrible). To make the color more opaque, dip them a second time after they've dried a few minutes. After that, let them dry for at least an hour on a rack or plate.

5. Once they've dried (I would wait at least 1 hour if you want them to come out neat or else your green glaze will run into your brown glaze; You might want to put off making your brown glaze until you are ready to use it) dip the rest of the block into the brown glaze, up until the green part. Be careful not to touch the green glaze with your fingers, hold onto the sides of the cakes. Don't worry about touching the sides while you dip; Once you set the blocks on a baking rack or plate, the glaze will even out when it drips down. Remember to put something underneath the rack to catch drippings.

6. After the cakes dry, transfer them over to a serving plate or store them in the fridge. I left them in the fridge overnight to let them harden. Handling them too much with your hands will cause the glaze to melt a little so try not to touch them a lot when you transfer them over to a serving plate.

Awesome! Make sure to let the green glaze dry well first before you dip it in the brown glaze, they'll come out much neater that way :] Enjoy!
