I'm not entirely sure where I'm going with this, but enjoy reading it anyway.

I always had to take the bus. Ever since I was old enough, my parents would force me to freeze in the sodden climate for half an hour, whilst they lavished in the warmth of their vehicles. Everytime I begged to get a ride, they'd scold me, saying that I had to endure the pain. It'd happened to them too. In a way, they just wanted to scorn over at their child, simply because they'd experienced the exact treatment when they were children. They told me it was merely an act of empathy, and my own children would have to face it too. Maybe if my parents had better hearts, and not just the functioning organism that you're thinking about; maybe if they had an optimistic, non-twisted mind that saw only one path, I wouldn't have gotten on the wrong bus.

Like normal, I was rooted to the ground beside the bus stop, my thin coat somehow drenched. My teeth chattered at an exceptional speed - it was rather painful. I focused on the floor, watching as puddle after puddle overlapped, becoming one monster. it reminded me of a movie I'd watched when I was younger, where a number of things had all joined together to become one huge mastermind. I had began screaming just as the credits appeared onto the screen, thinking the monster was going to come for me, its grin wide and threatening, the teeth like splinters. My father had burnt the DVD afterwards; this didn't help. The nightmare had become etched into my thoughts, always finding itself at the front of my mind wherever I went. I couldn't help contain a little shudder as I thought about it.

The road was quite deserted, the drives of houses empty. Everyone in the street had already left for work or school - I was late. My mother had only managed to shake me just as she was about to leave for work - the same time I was supposed to leave for the school. I swallowed down the bile from my throat as I recalled her triumphant grin, as if my lack of punctuality was an achievement. Of course, she only thought it was something I had to suffer, for she had been late once. As I peered down the road, which appeared to be drowning from the rain, I could just managed to see the common school bus trundling along. A cloud of smoke (or was it fog?) trailed after its wake. As soon as it got close enough, I suddenly comprehended how deprived I was of sleep. My eyelids fought with my brain, eventually winning; they drooped close. My mind was already drifting off to who knows where - it was just like floating on a cloud. However, it wasn't just any regular cloud - it was a thunder cloud, violent and murderous. I could feel the cloud attempting to throw my limp body off, screaming in anguish as its attempts were the opposite of prevail. All I could sense was the unpleasant slap of my head as it came into contact with the stone pavement, my vision already blank.

"Son? Wake up, boy! Ye'll be late for school!" A deep guffaw erupted from somewhere. "Well, later than ye already are." A few groans were heard, and someone rattled my body violently. I jerked upwards, blinking as everything become more clear. I found myself on the wet pavement, next to the bus stop. In the background stood the school bus, however the windows were tinted so I was unable to see who else was in side. No doubt they were all in laughter at my sudden sleepiness. Loud breathing caused my eyes to slide back to the main object - the bus driver. He was sneering down at me, his belly bulging, his teeth buck tooth. I couldn't remember a bus driver this terrifying, but maybe he was new?

"Well, are ye gonna say somethin', lad?" he smirked down at me, whilst I tried not to stare at all his wrinkles. He resembled an ogre. I quickly stood up and edged towards the bus, not realising that the continuous rain had somehow stopped. The bus driver watched me, his features frozen; his eyes were hard and soulless.

"Sorry, sir. I think I fainted." Be polite to adults, be polite to adults. That was what my family told me, otherwise I would have a miserable life. Little did they know, my life had been miserable from day one. I quickly climbed into the bus, and barely contained a gasp. The whole bus was empty. Before I could question the bus driver, I found myself falling sideways onto the nearest seat as the vehicle began speeding down the street. The bus driver had suddenly materialized into the drivers' seat - strange or what?

Shaking my head, I decided not to argue and glanced out the window. The man was obviously over speed limit - everything was flashing by far too fast, like your memories just as you were about to die. As I gazed at my watch, I realised with a jolt I was far too late for school... and then I stared back out the window to discover we were in some lone forest. What on earth?

"I'm going crazy, I'm going crazy, I'm going crazy," I mumbled to myself. Obviously, I was still passed out on the pavement by the bus stop. This was just another of my peculiar, delusional dreams that seemed far too realistic and 3D. I tried to convince myself I had a strong imagination, when the bus skidded to an abrupt halt. I felt alarm pierce my body, and I threw myself off the seat. I could barely make out the bus driver's shadow in the dark, for we were so far into a forest.

A pain that I was unable to describe felt its way throughout my body, and I stared down at the red on my hands, which was just visible. There was something sharp in my stomach, and as I met the bus driver's gaze, who really wasn't a bus driver, he flashed a grin.

"You got on the wrong bus."
