Many people I have seen on PMC say things such as 'Go shoot yourself,' or 'Go die,' in a relaxed and loose manner, which is not funny or relaxed at all. Think about the people on the thread. You don't know them. You don't know if they are happy or sad, if they're good in school or bad in school. So let's say someone said 'I hate Battlestar Galactica, it's so rubbish,' and you were a big fan, you wouldn't be happy, and they wont know you've offended them, or they didn't mean to.
In the same way, some people might cut or may have tried to hurt themselves. If people say these things on sites they love, imagine how worthless they will feel!
Another thing that is used so loosely- HATE
I strongly dislike Twilight. I don't hate it because hate requires a lot of emotion towards it, and I am not prepared to give that.
Granted, there may be things or people that you just truly can't help but hate, I have that, and it makes me sick that I care enough to hate them. But hate makes people feel bad, and if you are annoyed and in the heat-of-the-moment situation, and you say 'I hate you,' think about what you have said. Again, you don't know these people, and you could've made them feel like they're worth nothing.
How to fix things when you've used these so loosely:
Apologise. I don't mean
'Lol I'm soz xD'
I mean
'I'm sorry, that was not right, I don't even know you. I was just annoyed and I disagreed. I hope you forgive me.'
If I missed any, please comment so that people are more aware!Â
