Okay so this is technically my second blog, the first one got removed, that was before I knew blogs were supposed to be PMC or Minecraft related. So! On to the blog!
Now I fee like in writing this blog, half the PMC members will hate me and half will love me, somewhat like anyone who has blogged about this "Butter" ordeal. But here goes:
So I have seen threads about what people want in future updates, and one thing I have noticed is the want for emerald tools, armour and weapons. Now I understand that emeralds really aren't that useful at all. First, they're very rare, and second, if you even do find them, the only thing to do with them is trade with villages for stuff that you probably already have, or could easily get. So I understand that people want some use for emeralds.
Now one of the many good things about Minecraft is that it is fairly realistic. Iron tools are better than stone, diamond tools are better than iron. It makes sense because diamond actually is harder than iron, and while diamond is a solid 10 on the Mohs scale, emerald only scores a 7.5. I don't know about you, but I don't think it would be worth it to work hard and search long to find emeralds, even more rare than diamonds, only to craft tools that would be weaker than diamond.
So yes, I would love to see some other uses for emeralds in Minecraft, but I don't think tools and weapons would be any good. If you have any ideas for uses of emerald, feel free to post them on this thread:
