MAKE SURE YOU READ EVERYTHING TO ENSURE THAT THE FLOW OF THE TUTORIAL WILL BE UNDERSTOOD. THANK YOU.
Hello, friends and welcome to my first blog post. This is one of my first tutorials and my first blog post on this site and I worked pretty hard on it. Throughout writing this, I went through a lot, and family problems occurred which almost made me give up on this many times. I hope this helps you in all of your mob fighting endeavors. If you like/hate it, please leave some feedback. I plan on doing many more tutorials and your feedback will be appreciated. Make sure that it is constructive and helpful, as I put a lot of time and effort into this and "lol cool. diamond" won't help me even if it is positive feedback. This goes the same for negative feedback, tell me what should be changed. Also, if you want to add something, just put it in the comments and I'll add it to the guide with credits to you, though I will need your permission. If I misspelled something, made some kind of error, got a fact wrong, please tell me. I've checked this quite a couple times and I'm sure it's fine, but please tell me if there is something wrong. There are extra bits to the preparation section. I know that a pickaxe and milk aren't needed to fight, but I just thought I would mix some survival tactics into there. I am also aware that the next update, 1.3, is coming up on August first (YAY! :D). and I'll update it after that if there are any significant changes to combat. If support and feedback is given, I'll consider updating this about the Enderdragon :3 Thanks for reading, now let's get started :D
PREPARATION
First of all, you need a sword. Any sword will do, to be honest, though iron and diamond swords are preferred. Wooden and cobblestone swords are cheap and aren't too effective, though they are much better than using just your fists. A bow and arrow could help, but isn't needed. You should probably practice with the bow before using it in actual combat. A good strategy would be to attack your target with a bow from afar and then when they get close, use a sword. This probably won't work for ALL mobs, but it is good for most overworld mobs. Blocks are helpful for escaping, traps, and temporarily fortifying areas. Armour is also very useful. It isn't necessary, but even leather armor can save you from death and help you manage your health a bit better. Potions of all sorts can help you in many situations, but be aware of what certain potions do. First of all, know that Potions of Harming heal Zombies, Zombie Pigmen, and Skeletons, while Potions of Healing actually harm them, which makes sense since they're undead. Spiders are unaffected by Potions of Poison, also. Milk will negate any status effects you have on you. This means poison and hunger (the kind you get from eating raw meat and zombie flesh) as well as any potion effects including positive ones. Carrying 2 buckets of this is ideal in case you run out of food and need to eat flesh or if you get poisoned. Got all that? Good, but a very nice survival kit should look like this (Not including trap materials):
-Sword (for fightin')
-Pickaxe (for minin' and escapin')
-Bow (for rangin' an targetin')
-64 sticks. Most of the mobs you encounter will be in caves, in which there is a ton of coal. If you run out of torches, just take some sticks and coal you mined and plonk it in your 4x4 crafting square
-Crafting table. If you keep a crafting table in the upper right slot of your inventory, you can craft anything anywhere. You can even make furnaces inside dungeons if you need to. Again, not needed, but handy
-Splash Potion of Healing. Splash, so that you can instantly get its effects immediately by throwing it straight down at your feet instead of having to wait with the drinking animation. This will save you time, trust me.
-2 buckets of milk. These will cancel status effects such as poison and hunger.
-Food substantial enough to restore 5 bars of hunger or more
-Flint and Tinder can be used to cook pigs, cows, and chickens without the need of a furnace. Simply set the mob on fire and then pummel it to death. Cruel, but effective. As long as the selected animal was on fire as it died, it will drop cooked meat. Yum! It can also be used to add damage over time to enemies
-64 Torches
Again, you don't need everything here, all you REALLY need is a sword. Not even torches are needed, you can just turn your brightness all the way up. I like to keep my lighting gloomy though, so I need torches :P Another thing you should do if you're using torches is to keep them in the second/ninth slot on your hotbar, and your sword on your first. This allows easy access to both at all times. You don't even need to use your keyboard if you don't want to, just scroll with the mouse once, and you're fine. Alright, now onto the next part.
MOB ITEM EFFECTS
Only some were mentioned in the last part, so this will tell you everything you need to know about which items affect which mobs and how. Read this carefully, as these may or may not continue to pop up. I eventually realised there were so many, and already scattered this information all around, so stick with this.

TIPS
These are just some quick tips to help you out. Most of these aren't directly related to fighting, but are helpful survival tips.
-This post isn't about fighting passive mobs, such as pigs and cows, but traps mentioned here can be used against them.
-Always be aware of your surroundings, especially at night. You think you're safe just because it's daytime? Carelessness can lead to a fall into a ravine or a dirty hole (Yogscast reference, anyone?)
-Fence in your structures and light them up generously. This ensures that mobs don't spawn inside and makes the area around your house/building safer.
-When out exploring in general, it is a good idea to have a crafting table and sticks. If you hole up inside of a cave, it's likely that there will be coal, so if you run out of torches, you can just combine your sticks and coal to make torches.
-Create overhangs on all of your structures. Spiders can climb walls, and I'm sure you don't want any of these bastards on your roof.
-Friends are good. If you are on a server, gather some buddies or at least some kind of group and take on baddies together. I will mention some fun multiplayer tactics later in the tactics section.
-Remember that water protects some mobs from the sun. Try to steer clear of water when fighting during dawn.
-BLOCK. You probably never considered that, like me long after the feature was implemented. Well, it can save you from death when you least expect. It doesn't decrease your swords durability and you take about half damage and can deflect arrows as well, so make sure you start keeping that in mind!
-Undead mobs (Zombie Pigmen, Zombies, and Skeletons) are hurt by splash potions of healing and healed by splash potions of harming. If you are in need of health and you are surrounded by undead, you could pop a health potion (make sure it's a splash potion so the effects are instant), healing you while damaging (and maybe even killing) them. Be careful, as it will deal normal effects to other mobs.
-If things get too hard, turn the difficulty down a bit! It's good to practice with a difficulty you're comfortable with so that you can later play Hard Mode with ease.
-About to die? If you really want to, turn the difficulty to peaceful. it will cause all hostile mobs (not wolves) to de-spawn and also regenerate your health rapidly. Don't do this a lot, it's not very fair.
TACTICS
- Hit and Run: For this, you need to be on a multiplayer server and have two players. You know how when mobs detect a player, they ignore everything else altogether, including other players? Well, the idea is to use this to your advantage. To do this, one player will attack the mob, causing it to focus on them. Then the other player can easily run up and attack the same mob without a scratch. The players will continue to do this until the mob is dead. Very fun way to kill mobs.
- Merry-go-Round: This is the same as the "Hit and Run," but with more players. Let's say you have three players. You will do the same steps as the Hit and Run, but then, the third player will follow your lead. This can be turned into a fun multiplayer game kind of like hot potato. Use this tactic with your fists (on a zombie, preferrably) and whoever allows the person next to them to get damaged is eliminated. This will continue until there is only one player standing.
- DPS: Not exactly much of a new 'tactic', but using your flint and steel, you can set fire to mobs which will add DPS (Damage Per Second). Then, you can club them up and kill them faster. Useful if you have an inferior weapon.
- Dirt jumping: If you find yourself surrounded or outnumbered, block jump by:
1. Aiming your crosshair directly down at your feet.
2. With dirt in hand, hold right-click
3. Hold space which will cause you to jump until you run out of dirt or stop holding right-click.
From this point, you can either attack with your bow if you are too high for melee. If you are going for the melee approach, it is a good idea to be careful with skeletons, as they can still shoot you down. It is also a good idea to clean up the towers after you are done with them.
-Jump Attack: This is exactly what it sounds like. Jump and follow it up with an attack. This deals bonus damage and can sometimes cause critical hits.
-Sprint Attack: This is also what it sounds like. Sprinting and following it up with an attack will cause the mob to go flying backwards. This is good for escaping creepers and other mobs.
-Sprint Jump: Using the last two tactics, you can create a nice little special. This will have the same effects as the two tactics; it will cause the mob to fly backwards and also deal bonus damage.
-Underwater Airpockets: If you are being chased by mobs and there is a water body somewhere nearby, jump in and place down 2 sugarcane and stand in it. You now have an air pocket! It's most likely that the mobs (if not enderman) are floating at the top of the water now. At this point, you can just swim up close enough to the surface in order to hit them and then swim back down to your air pocket. This can be continued until all mobs floating atop the water are dead. It can also be used when hunting squids in a large ocean.

TRAPS
Materials
-At least 32 blocks of dirt. These are the building blocks of many of your traps. Don't bring sand or cobblestone. If you brought cobblestone, a pickaxe would be mandatory and sand falls down if not placed on solid material. Dirt is sturdy as cobblestone (Though not as durable)and easy to clean up.
-Sand is helpful if you are using Cacti, otherwise, leave it alone.
-16 Cacti. Useless unless you're in a desert or have sand. If the latter is the case, then there will be a small amount of setup time.
-Flint and Tinder
-Netherrack
NOTE: I'm sure that none of these traps will work on enderman. I'm working on that.
Standard Hole Trap: Just a basic hole trap. Mobs aren't too smart and won't avoid holes. Create a grid of 3-block deep holes (or you could just make one) and lure mobs there. Most likely, they will fall into your hole allowing an easy kill for you. If not, you can just knock them in. This isn't effective against skeletons, as they will shoot you as soon as you look inside. The best bet with skeletons is to just leave them alone until daytime.
Cactus Hole: Don't like the standard hole trap and want a trap that will kill mobs for you? Look no further, this trap should help you quite a lot, and is quite a simple setup. Dig a 3x3 hole 3 blocks down. In the middle, replace whatever block is there with sand. Then, place cactus on top of it. Now all you need to do is lure. It's possible that loot may be destroyed on the cactus if it lands too close.
TNT Hole: Dig a four block deep hole and at the bottom, put a TNT block and a pressure pad. Be careful that it's not around any important areas. You may also want to have a chest far off away from the holes filled with dirt, so that you can repair the holes.
Lava Hole: Dig down 3 blocks deep and add lava at the bottom. Simple and effective, but it won't yield loot or experience.
Fire Hole: Lots of holes in this section, but this is the last one, I promise. This one is actually pretty simple, though it will require you to go the Nether. Dig 4 blocks downward and place a Netherrack block in the hole. Now, you should have a 3 block long hole with Netherrack on the bottom. Now, just set fire to the Netherrack and lure in some monsters. You can also leave this trap in a gridlike fashion in front of your house if you feel that monsters linger around there too much. Loot will be burned in the fire.
This tutorial will be divided into two sections, Nether Mobs and Overworld Mobs.
Door Trap: Put a pressure plate down, it doesn't matter whether it is stone or wood. Then, take four doors and place them around the plate so that it looks like a plus. Make sure that all the doors are open when the pressure pad isn't in use. On the top of the door, place a half slab or a block. When the trap is ready, lure a monster inside of the 4 doors, which will activate the pressure pad resulting in the closing of all four doors. The monster will be trapped and then you can deal with it however you like (be careful with the creepers)
Slowing Trap: You will need to be luring mobs into this area in order for this to work. Place Soul Sand in a 2x6 fashion and lure a mob into the soulsand. From this point, you can shoot them with arrows or melee them. This won't work well on skeletons as they will still shoot at you.
TNT Door Trap: Do the same setup as the Door Trap, but under the pressure pad, place a TNT block. Now, when the mob enters, the pressure pad will close all the doors and also activate the TNT, killing the mob. Flee away from the area to keep damage at a minimal when the doors close.
Murder Hole: If you happen to dig into a dungeon, but the mobs are overpowering, you can dig under the sides and create a window that only exposes the mobs feet. Make sure that the hole is only one block wide, or else spiders will be able to get through. Other than that, Cave Spiders, Small Slimes, Tiny Slimes, and Silverfish will still be able to fit through the gap. If you would like to take extra precautions, then you could place a half slab to stop slimes, but Silverfish and sometimes Cave Spiders will still be able to fit. Creepers may also still explode even though only their legs are exposed, so be careful. Thanks to iminer978 for the tip about making it more clear that the hole should be only one block.
*the tutorial will be split into two different sections, Nether Mobs and Over-world Mobs. If support is shown, a third section will be added showing how to fight the enderdragon*
OVER-WORLD MOBS
Zombies
What to know
Alright, so we're going to start off with an easy one (but not the easiest). We're starting off with zombies, because they aren't actually hard at all unless facing a group, in which it will be slightly more dangerous. First of all, zombies drop rotten flesh as you probably know. If you run out of food, devouring the flesh of your undead enemies is your best bet. There's a high chance you'll get food poisoning which causes your hunger bar to go down faster, but standing still for 30 seconds will negate the effect. During the daytime, it is likely they will burn, however, if they manage to find shade sufficient enough to protect them or a body of water, they will go for it. Be aware of this even though it isn't a direct threat if this does happen. Also, use iron doors on all structures you build in which there is an inside area. Zombies will break down wooden doors if they see them (and the noise is terribly annoying). Carry around a lever as a 'key' in order to open these, or you could just place them next to the doors since mobs can't use levers or buttons anyway. You could further fortify your home by placing a fence around it and lighting up the areas around the fence. Another thing to note is that splash potions of harming heal them and splash potions of healing damage them. This goes the same for Zombie Pigmen and Skeletons.
Combat
As I said before, zombies aren't dangerous unless encountered in a large group or a confined area. In this case, fighting a single zombie is no threat at all. Just do the standard spam-click (and maybe add in a sneaky deaky jump attack :D) and you're done. With two zombies, it's a contest of how fast you can move your mouse and juggle between two targets. As each one comes at you, just knock whichever one is closer away while slowly moving back when needed. Now, with a zombie horde of about 4-6 which is probably the largest amount of mobs you'll naturally see in one place, it's a whole new story. This is when this mob can actually be dangerous. Since they are melee based, they can all overwhelm you, especially in tight spaces, but luckily, you move much faster than them, so you can flee if you need to. In an open area, you're pretty much doing the same juggling method when there are two zombies, but you'll need quick reaction times. Most likely, you'll be dealing with two or three at a time, so just juggle between them, moving back a bit as they slowly get closer. Eventually, circle around them and get a 16 block distance between you and them so that you can eat or apply potions if needed and get ready to start up again. You can continue this until they are dead.
Skeletons
What to know
These mobs can be slightly more dangerous than zombies since they have ranged ability, though their aim is quite scattered. Like their more meaty cousin, zombies, they do not burn while in shade or a body of water. This can be bad, especially in water, because of the fact that you are already slowed and the skeletons successful arrow shots will deter your progress. It's ideal to take them out with a bow in this scenario, but if you manage to go directly under them in water, they will shoot themselves. In a horde, it's likely they will accidentally shoot each other, in which case you can just sit back and deal with whichever ones are still focusing on you. Another thing to note is that they are healed by splash potions of harming and damaged by splash potions of healing. The same goes for Zombies and Zombie Pigmen.
Combat
Skeletons can actually be pretty harmless if you have the right timing and patience. It also takes practice to kill a skeleton cleanly, so practice. There are two ways I like to do it. Let's set the scenario. There's a skeleton coming at you from 16 blocks away. In 8 more blocks, it will start firing accurately. Now, just hold down the left button on your mouse with your sword out in order to block. Wait for the skeleton to fire its first arrow. When it hits/misses, go forward. When you feel that it will fire again, stop, stay still, and block. For some reason, staying completely still makes skeletons a bit less accurate. With this method, they will usually miss twice and then hit you. I like to call it "Red Light, Green Light" for obvious reasons. When you get close enough, just whack em a few, but still follow the pattern of their arrow shots. Block when they fire and then hit. This next method, which I like a bit more because I like moving around will probably have the same effect as the last method, but it's a different technique. Here, you will approach the skeleton slowly until you get into its firing range. Block and wait for its first arrow. When it hits/misses, sprint forward, but MAKE SURE TO STOP RIGHT BEFORE YOU REACH THE SKELETON and then hit it. If you sprint attack the skeleton, it will obviously fly away, therefore you will have to repeat the steps. Also, a nice thing to note is that in a 1x2 hallway, since arrows go in an arc, it's likely that the arrows will hit the ceiling instead of you if you are at a distance. This is what I like to call the "Dead Zone." From this point, they will not move (since you are in their range) and they will continue to fire their arrows into the ceiling. A cool tactic is to sprint attack them to knock them away and then fall back to get back into their dead zone, and repeat until they die.
Spiders
What to know
They can climb walls. Remember this and remember it well. A good idea would be to create overhangs on any structures you create to defend against them. Another thing. They are 2 blocks wide and 1 block tall, therefore if you have a hole in your wall, they can climb through. I'm not sure why you would have a hole in your wall, I would cover it with glass, but whatever, maybe you just happen to have something like that. Another thing, during the daytime, spiders will be neutral unless provoked, but with the way spiders were coded to act during the day, this can be exploited a bit. If you attack a spider during the daytime, it will most likely come after you for a second or two before reverting back to neutral state because of the sun. Be careful in shaded areas as well, if it is daytime and you are under trees in a jungle, they will remain hostile until sunlight is actually above them. Also, don't run from spiders. They are as faster or as fast as you and their jumps will help gain speed on you. Instead, just sprint away if possible, or try to sprint attack and knock it back. If you decide to do the offensive approach, take care as they can easily regain their speed on you as soon as you knock them away. They also drop spider eyes which can be eaten in emergencies when health is less of a problem than hunger. Spotting them during the night is also easy because of their bright red eyes. The most you will naturally see at one time is 2-3.
Combat
Let's start off with one spider. The standard way to do it is to just stand in one place and attack them when they jump. Another simple way is to run at them and hit them before they get the chance to jump, which can possibly be risky. With two, it's the same as zombies. Juggle between them, but you need to hit them at certain times, which is when they jump. With three, you should have as many hunger points as possible, you may be running away a lot. Most likely, you will be sprinting away, then knock them away before sprinting again. Want a more tactical approach? Create a pillar at least 5 blocks tall. The spiders will be climbing up trying to get you, but you can just knock them down, and if you're high enough, they will take fall damage since they fall away from the wall, not straight down. With this, you can have more space and time to take care of large mobs of even 10 spiders, but if just one manages to throw you over, you're probably done. If you have a lot of arrows, you can create a quick overhang on your pillar, and shoot the spiders below without worrying about them climbing up.
Spider Jockeys
What to know
Spider Jockeys are a combination of two powerful forces. The spiders speed and jump ability with the skeletons ranged attacks. These can take you down quickly if you aren't careful, but luckily, they aren't common. I'm not going to say anything else here. Look at what you should know about both spiders and skeletons and see how they could form together.
Combat
With a fast spider launching in on you at a fast speed and a skeleton shooting at you at the same time, it won't be easy to take this down. The easiest way would be to kill one of the mobs with arrows from a long distance so that the surviving mob is left alone and less dangerous and then you can plan an attack much more easily. The mob you should kill really depends on which you have more trouble with. If you have more trouble with spiders, kill that and melee the skeleton. Problem with skeletons? Kill that from range and melee the spider. If you're going to try to kill the spider, you may kill the skeleton in the process since it's covering the top of the spider and it's easier to hit in general. You could also just kill both from range if you so chose as well. I'm currently trying to find an effective melee tactic, so please be patient, this will be updated soon.
Cave Spiders
What to Know
They are just like normal spiders, they can climb walls, turn neutral in daylight, and they are fast and can jump. They have more features though, and they aren't good news. They will poison you when they come in contact with you and they are only 1 block wide and half a block tall. This means they can fit through a one block hole and a tiny hole in a half slab, which is very bad. This is why milk can come in handy. Let's move on to the combat section now, they only have two more significant features to them that standard spiders don't.
Combat
You can follow the original steps for the standard spiders, but there is another way to kill them, specifically for cave spiders only. Most likely you will be spotting these underground where there will be a lot of cobwebs surrounding a spawner. In this case, you can burn the cobwebs (which don't slow down spiders, by the way) and watch it reach to the spawner. Burning all the cobwebs is a good idea just incase there are a lot scattered around. From this point you can destroy the spawner to prevent more spiders from appearing. Also, be careful when following original standard spider tactics, they are much smaller than normal spiders and it should be understood that they will be harder to target.
Creepers
What to know
First of all, Creepers are afraid of Ocelots and Cats, so it's nice to have cats sit on all sides of your house to repel them. Taking a cat around with you can also help. They will ignore you completely when in the presence of a cat, so you can use this to your advantage. To create Creeper-Proof Houses, try to add as much obsidian as possible, as they are the most damage resistant block next to bedrock (but this can't be mined). Creepers are completely silent until they hiss, in which you should probably just sprint away, the chances that you will survive are higher then, though it depends of course. If it's behind you, take flight. If it's in front of you, sprint attack it. This will shove it out of detonation range and also allow you to move back. Now to combat.
Combat
If you want to kill a creeper the safe way, shoot some fully charged arrows at it and it should be dead. Two or Three fully charged arrows are usually what it takes to kill one. If you want to melee it, it's not too hard. There are two ways, but in both, always stay mobile. The first is used for confined quarters. Basically, you want to sprint attack the creeper without actually sprinting too much. You will knock the creeper away and then you move backwards in case the explosion timer starts. Repeat this until the Creeper dies. The second is used for above ground areas or anywhere in general. Just attack the Creeper and then fall back until the explosion timer resets (which you can measure by the duration of the "SSSssss..."). Repeat this until it dies. When you kill them enough times with a certain type of sword to be certain how many hits it takes to kill them, you can get the last two hits in one advancement. For example, if it takes four hits with an iron sword, follow the steps twice, and then the third time, just run at it and hit it twice. This can decrease the time spent fighting them by a lot.
Endermen
What to know
They can teleport. This is crucial to know if you want to fight them. You probably already knew that, but I'm just saying that for those who didn't. They are completely neutral mobs until you look at them. When looked at, they will freeze on the spot until you look away, then it will teleport or keep running to you. If you wear a pumpkin on your head, however, they will stay neutral no matter how much you look at them. It gives limited sight, but if you use a texture pack in which it removes the HUD or makes it less constricting, it can save you in the End. They emit purple particles which makes them easy to spot at night, so don't look in that area. In fact, when it's night time, always try to aim your cross-hair at the ground, but high enough so that you can see what's in front of you. This will prevent the chances of Enderman coming for you by a lot. Endermen can move blocks, so they can tear down your wall and enter if they wanted to. Endermen are also three blocks tall, so try to keep your ceiling low in case you enter your house to break the pursuit of an Enderman. If the ceiling is 3 blocks tall in your house, you can potentially risk having Endermen roommates. Water and rain also damages them, so you can sit in a pool of water and when your attacker gets close, he will instantly teleport away, because of the damage, making it easy to kill them without doing any work. Because of all these traits, they can be a tough opponent.
Combat
When starting the fight, don't look at the enderman until you want to attack. Go up close to the enderman and when you are right next to it, quickly draw your cross-hair onto it and then spam-click. When it teleports, you have two options. You can either jump in a pool of water or use a bucket of water on the block you're standing on, or you can circle around and search. If you chose the second option, then circle around continuously until you spot the enderman. Again, don't look at it until it gets close, or else it will teleport away. Continue this, and make sure that you stay mobile. Spin around and search until you find it. If you don't want to do this, you can have your back against a wall so that you don't have to do a complete 360. These all work fine, but if you want simplicity, just carry around a water bucket.
Slimes
What to know
These are complete pushovers. They aren't a problem at all, but here it is anyway. Slimes can be broken up into three different sizes and will deal damage according to their size. The smallest size of slimes don't deal damage, but can still push you into hazardous areas, especially since they spawn below layer 40 where lava is abundant.
Combat
Hit them. That is all. Seriously, just stand in one place and knock them back. The only thing you should worry about minorly is that they spread into smaller slimes when killed which can lead to mobs, but they are still slow and can easily be killed.
Silverfish
What to know
They are tiny and hide in blocks completely identicle to normal stone blocks. The only way to identify a silverfish block is to attempt to mine it with your hand, as it will be mine faster than a pickaxe. When attacked, they will awaken other silverfish in blocks which can lead to a large swarm that you have to deal with. They don't do much damage, but are plain annoying and can push you into lava if there is any around.
Combat
There's not much to say here other than the fact that they are small targets, making them slightly harder to hit. They are usually easy kills, taking about 2 hits. They can be slightly effective in a large group, but if you're clicking fast enough, they shouldn't be a problem, really.
Wolves
What to know
Just don't bother the wolves, there's no drops from them and they can take you down quickly if you aren't careful. They are normally neutral unless provoked, in which they will attack you. They usually spawn in large packs of around 4-6. They deal 2 hearts of damage , so if each wolf in a four wolf pack got a hit on you, you'd be close to dead immediately upon attacking them. Before attacking, make sure to have your hunger bar full enough for you to be able to sprint away, as running normally will cause them to gain on you easily.
Combat
Since they spawn in packs, you're going to be juggling again. Wolves also jump, like spiders, so try to think of it like attacking them. Make sure you have your finger holding the "S" key so that you're moving backwards away from the wolves and juggling. It will probably take two or three hits to kill one.
NETHER MOBS
Note - All Nether Mobs are Fire Resistant.
Ghast
What to know
Ghasts float around and make high pitched squeals that travel for long distances. Always be on your guard and keep your eyes above you as the noise they emit doesn't change pitch as you get closer or further, which makes it difficult to know where Ghasts are. They also shoot fireballs that explode on impact and occasionally set fire to the area.
Combat
Fighting a Ghast is actually pretty easy as long as your timing is good. If you want to use a sword, when they shoot you with a fireball, just spam left-click when it gets close enough. This will send it launching back at wherever your cross-hair was aiming when you hit the fireball. Make sure to keep your cross-hair on the Ghast at all times for this reason. If hit by the fireball, it is an instant kill. You can also block the fireball to reduce damage by a substantial amount, but it's recommended that you just hit it back. Both take one mouse-click, so it's not a problem. If you want to take the ranged approach, two fully charged arrows are all it takes to down a Ghast. You can also deflect a fireball with a well-aimed arrow shot if you need to.
Zombie Pigman
What to know
Zombie Pigmen always travel in large packs, but luckily they start off neutral. If they are attacked, all Zombie Pigmen in a 32 block radius will instantly become hostile and quickly barrel towards you. They do a large amount of damage that can be unsettling as they run faster than the player. If you decide to attack one, make sure you have a full hunger bar so that you can regenerate health when you are hit and so that you can sprint away if in danger.
Combat
First off, since they are passive unless provoked, you can use things like Nether cliffs and Ghast fireballs to your advantage against them. You can push them off a cliff without them attacking you since it's considered environmental damage. Deflecting a Ghast fireball towards a Zombie Pigman can also prove to be a good tactic. Now, with melee, they're kind of the same as zombies, but they seem to have a longer reach which could possibly just be the fact that they're faster than you. Also, since they're faster than you, always stay mobile. This doesn't mean continuously backpedal, that will just lead to you bumping into another Zombie Pigman behind you, or fall damage. Instead, use a combination of the movement keys, like WA or WE and keep your cursor on the group and spam left-click. Be careful, especially while fighting in groups. You're best bet would be to attack from range or use a few traps/tactics from the beginning section just to be safe.

And with the pic, I liked it too (It took awhile to draw as well :o), but the new one looks cleaner and will suit everyone's tastes instead of offending some, I guess. Thanks again :D

I used MS Paint to draw that, but I suggest using Paint.NET, as it has anti-aliasing (makes it look smoother) and many more features :D
