This is a tutorial on how to install my modding setup, or just Optifine.  I made this tutorial on Windows 8.1 but it should work on other operating systems as long as you know where to find .minecraft.


My setup:

Forge and Liteloader
Steps to get my setup:
  1. Select the "release 1.8" version on your minecraft profile in the launcher
  2. Launch minecraft then close it
  3. Download the latest Installer Forge: http://files.minecraftforge.net/#Downloads
  4. Run forge.jar
  5. Select "Install client"
  6. Click "OK"
  7. Click "OK" again
  8. Download 1.8.0 Forge Mods (here are some popular ones):
    1. Optifine: https://optifine.net/downloads
    2. Shaders: http://www.minecraftforum.net/forums/mapping-and-modding/minecraft-mods/1286604-shaders-mod-updated-by-karyonix

  9. Place the forge mods in your %APPDATA%/.minecraft/mods folder
  10. Download Liteloader: Direct Download link
  11. Run Liteloader.jar
  12. Select "Extract LiteLoader jar"
  13. In the directory for installation/extraction put in: %APPDATA%/.minecraft/mods
  14. Click "OK"
  15. Click "OK" again
  16. Place Liteloader.jar in your %APPDATA%/.minecraft/mods folder
  17. Download any Liteloader Mods (here are a few popular ones):
    1. VoxelMap: Direct Download Link
    2. WE CUI: Direct Download Link
    3. Macro/Keybind Mod: Direct Download Link

  18. Place those mods in your %APPDATA%/.minecraft/mods folder
  19. Open the minecraft launcher
  20. Select the "Forge" profile
  21. Play modded minecraft!

Optifine setup;

Steps to get Optifine:
  1. Select the "release 1.8.4" version on your minecraft profile in the launcher
  2. Launch minecraft then close it
  3. Download the newest minecraft 1.8.4 Optifine: https://optifine.net/downloads
  4. Run Optifine.jar
  5. Click "Install"
  6. Open the minecraft launcher
  7. Select the "Optifine" profile
  8. Play minecraft with Optifine

Please update the voxelmap link to 1.8, the current file is for 1.7

I have a suggestion for a mod 
the mod is called chunk border I think that's the name the mod shows the borders of the chunks

Well once you have this set up you can easily add/remove mods.

Sinced the above tutorial shows how to add both forge and liteloader, you can use forge and liteloader mods.
