Introduction:
Hello Ladies and Gentlemen, I know this isn't related to PMC whatsoever, but I felt like making this blog, as I experienced them. I hope you enjoy reading my blog about Gossips and Rumors, as you can tell from the title of the article. I will be showing you what Gossips and Rumors are, and how to avoid them.
Gossips:
Gossips happen all the time.Some can be harmless, whereas some can be disrespectful and hurtful. There are different types of gossips. There's the celebrity gossip, E Gossip, Wrestling Gossip, Hollywood Gossip, and etc. Gossip, for most people, is entertainment. They think it's fun, but in the outside, it can ruin someone's life. It can be also thought as a form of bullying, by exact.
Gossips are basically lies, lies, and more lies. This is basically how it works:
First Off, People hear some information about someone they don't like, or someone you envy, and they take that info, and start making an story out of it. Then they will tell their other friends around, and their friends will add even more false and ridiculous info to the story, and spread to the entire school or community (It depends). It sounds so dumb that stuff like that can actually start, but it does in real life.
Think about it. If people started talking nasty things about you, and start spreading to you, how would you feel? Terrible, in my opinion. It's unfair for someone to be treated like that, we're all equal. The thing is that it isn't real, and can make people's lives miserable and uncomfortable. Once gossip starts, there's no way on stopping it. Gossips and Rumors will continue to grow until it's spread to everyone in the place, so no-one's safe.
Experience:
This happened to me a lot during my school years. It was terrible. I always had to hide, and make sure that no-one was following me. At that time, life was different. I kept on getting picked on, and I was forced to hand my lunch money to other people. Regularly, people would spread nasty rumors and information that weren't even true, and suddenly, you would have a wave of people just staring at you with disbelief. I wasn't popular, or cool, by that time. People were split in groups, The Cool people would hang with the cool kids, whereas the other kids would hang around with their own group.
There was one time where I was in big trouble. There was a particular girl who hated me in the class, and occasionally called me rude nicknames. I just ignored her, and it got worse each day. Once, she started gossiping to her friends about me, and soon, people were shouting, and calling me a loser, and other irritable nicknames that were very offensive. I had the situation solved by talking to the principal, and the girl never talked, or spread rumors to me again.
How to Avoid Them:
The First way on avoiding gossips is to change the subject whenever a person or group approaches you with gossip. If she tries to continue, state: "I don't feel comfortable discussing about that."
The Second way is to just not spread the gossip that someone told you about. Let the information sharing end with you as this will stop the conflict, and all that bickering.
The Third way if you're on the subject of gossip is to talk directly with the person spreading it. Ask her/him to talk to you directly if she has any questions.
