Now to anyone out there who considers themselves a perfectionist to some degree, like I for example. Should know that even simple everyday tasks can take longer than the norm due to that impulsive voice in your head telling you to tweak and 'perfect' every last detail on the job at hand.

Now in Minecraft this is about as oblivious as gravity. You may find yourself spending periods of 2-4 hours (maybe more) on a big scale project. Whether it be, a mansion, terrain editing or the one I find most common for myself. Building a Kingdom. During this period of creation I find it somewhat hard to pull myself away from the build and stop. I have to keep going until I feel it is fully satisfying to the eye, but what I have found out is spending these long periods on a build can actually affect the quality to some degree!

Have you ever heard of the theory that 'when you read a question and don't understand it, you look past it and come back later. Suddenly you know the answer?' Your brain subconsciously ponders on the question and works it out. This fact is actually true, not so much being able to discover a cure for the common cold but more able to draw a conclusion from your subconscious.

This applies quite nicely to Minecraft in terms of development. I find now, that it's easier to take my task in a 'Bitesize chunk' rather than run at it like a brick wall. I work maybe a period of 1 hour at most now, and then leave it for no less than 4 hours, and applying the subconscious brain idea to this actually helps come up with new innovation and uniqueness to my designs.

'But I like to get things done and over with' (That's what she said) Well to overcome the impulsive OCD, perfectionist idea. I like to set myself a smaller task may it be; A section of your mansion, a specific terrain modification or even a small building. It still gives the same feeling as finishing your project, but beneficially gives even the most minute parts of your work massive detail.

This to me is what makes a project worthwhile. I hope this helps with your designs out there people, if you have read this and would like some feedback, send me a link and I would be more than happy too share.
