Herobrine is, as legends say Notch's dead brother. He is a mob that is just like a ghost. He normally appears when you are mining with a diamond pickaxe. Herobrine is just like an Enderman, he can teleport, and he teleports to kill players. He looks just like Steve, but with white eyes. There are many signs of him, such as cobblestone statues lit with redstone torches.

It was that day, Notch got his baby brother, and they started a world in minecraft. They were getting wood, as every player would when they start, then they built a small cottage of dirt, and wood. After a few days they went mining in this lava lit cave. All of a sudden Notch's brother fell into a deep hole with water on the bottom. There were 1x2 passageways in every direction. By this time Notch did not know that worlds would generate this, so he kept on calling Notch's brothers name, but he didn't answer. Notch's brother decided to go into one of the 1x2 holes hoping to find ores. When he went to the end he saw a statue made of netherrack, and lit with redstone torches. Than he heard evil spirits whistling around him, he screamed, and BOOM! His soul got sucked away, and HeroBrine went within him. 

After the Halloween update with the Nether in, HeroBrine went to the Nether and took control of it. HeroBrine tried to ruin the world, so he invented Zombies, the charged into the Overworld. The Zombies weren't quite a match for the players, because most of them killed them easily with their fists. In another update Herobrine added something much harder than zombies, skeletons. The usually stay hidden, and shoot players until they die. Soon the players got iron or leather armor and swords, so the skeletons were defeated. That time Herobrine was angry, so he invented the Creeper. The creeper is a no armed green blob with TNT inside it.(My brother gets scared, and hides in his room when he sees a creeper, he is 3 years older than me)

Later on, you know Endermen came out, than ZombiePigmen, and Ghast, then Magma Cubes, then Blazes, then Cave Spiders, then Enderdragons, etc. I am guessing legends say that Herobrine invented hostile mobs, while Notch invented passive, neutral, and utility mobs. So, this is my story of Herobrine, whats yours?

technically he removed him it never says added Herobrine but since 1.6.6 it says removed herobrine maybe he's been in minecraft since classic or indev or infdev

It says removed herobrine in the 1.2.5 update, and everyone knows Notch is trolling us, so probably he's still there.
