So you want to make a Tekkit server? Well, it's not as hard as you think.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
1. Okay, so you're really doing this now. First things first, let's make a folder
for your server. Now you can name this whatever you want as long as you can find it when you want to run your server.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
2. Now, we need to get the Tekkit/Bukkit server from here. (Also, if you don't have the Technic Launcher, go here.) Put your downloaded file into your server folder and extract it. (Right-click it and hit "Extract")
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
3. Once you've done all of that, you need to mess with your server a little. First, locate launch.bat in your server folder. Right-click it and hit "Edit". Now something like notepad will open up.
- You will need to change some things.
- Change Xmx3G to Xmx1G
- Change Xms2G to Xms512M
- Delete the "pause" at the end.
(You can also edit the "server" file any way you want to allow a full customization of your server.)
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
4. Now, we've reached the epic-ly hard part of the journey. PORT. FORWARDING. Now as the normal and totally unimaginative person I am, I'm going to be taking you to portforward.com. Now I know everyone else is using this too, but it seriously is the best overall site dedicated to helping people port forward on ANY router. If you're too lazy to type it in the address bar, just click here.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
5. Also, one more thing. You need a static ip address so people can connect without your ip changing constantly. First, go to the bottom right corner of your screen. You see that computer with the fork on it? Right-click it and hit "Open Network and Sharing Center". Now look on the left panel of the window and hit "Change Adapter Settings". Ooh, scary. Now once your in there, right-click Local Area Connection and hit "Properties". You will need administrative permissions. Now double-click "Internet Protocol Version 4" and ANOTHER window will pop up. Your going to want to change both buttons to static ip and dns server. So, you can edit this like so:
- First Box: | 192 | 168 | 1 (or 0) | [Anything]
- Second Box: Just click it and go to the next one.
- Third Box: Make this your internal ip, like 192.168.1.1 or 0.1.
Now the DNS servers you will have to get from your internet provider. Sorry.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
6. So you've done everything I've said right? RIGHT?!?! Just kidding. All you have to do now is basically go into your server file and double-click launch.bat. This will start it up. (hopefully free from errors)
open it up on notepad or get notepad++ (which will then make the "edit" you don't have).
You're obviously on a laptop. I"m doing this for windows 7 btw. What you want to do is go to your internet connection thing. Then it should be the same from there.
