Hello and welcome to my step by step tutorial on how to install mods.

So enough with the chit-chat and let's get down to business!

The first thing you will need is a file manager like WinRAR or 7ZIP.

Once downloaded and fully operational, you are going to need to download Risugami's Modloader.

Modloader is the tool which is 1000 times better than any mod on the planet for 1 reason only, it is the mod that lets you install mods! Also ModloaderMP and MinecraftForge are needed for certain mods, so here are the download links for all 3 of the above

Here is the Modloader download (1.2.3) - Download

Here is the ModloaderMP download (1.2.3) - Download

Here is the MinecraftForge download (1.2.3) - Download

Now you have Modloader downloaded and saved somewhere you need to open it up with WinRAR (or 7ZIP).

Now you need to get to your Minecraft.jar.

To do this get to the Run console and type in %appdata% and enter it. Click onto Roaming and it will open up every single application folder on your PC. Find .Minecraft and enter the folder.

Now you are in .Minecraft, enter the bin (lol) and right click on the Minecraft.jar and Open With... WinRAR (or 7ZIP). This opens up what is pretty much the game. Don't delete anything unless I tell you to!

Ok so you should have your Minecraft.jar and Modloader open. Now Ctrl+A all the files in Modloader and drag them across into the Minecraft.jar.

Close Modloader.

Now delete the folder called META-INF (if not deleted you will get blackscreen).

Do the same for MinecraftForge and ModloaderMP.

Exit the Minecraft.jar and launch Minecraft. Wait until the Main Menu appears and then close Minecraft.

Now if you go back to your .Minecraft folder (the same way as before) you should see that a few new files have generated, the one we are intrested in specifically is the mods folder.

In the next tutorial I will show you how to install some specific mods because some are different to others.

When I try to put modloader in minecraft.jar it says ! Cannot rename __rzi_0.204 to C:Documents and SettingsUserApplication Data.minecraftbinminecraft.jar
The process cannot access the file because it is being used by another process.

This may be because you had Minecraft running at the same time as the Minecraft.jar

This will mean the game will try edit itself whilst running which for some reason it cannot handle.

When you try again make sure to have your Minecraft Client closed
