Hello everyone. Today I will be presenting you with a tutorial. This tutorial has many variables and problems associated with it when its finished, so I encourage questions.
NOTE: 1.7.4 is not currently compatible with shaders!
Before we get started, I want everyone to do this:
MAKE A BACKUP OF YOUR .minecraft! IF YOU SCREW UP ANYTHING IT COULD RUIN YOUR MINECRAFT!
Do you want something better than texturepacks? Something more realisitic? Get shaders! It is one of the best mods, making Minecraft more realisitc than ever.
Here are the steps:
1. You need to start out by downloading the ShadersCoreMod. The link provided below will take you to the download page for the installation. Keep in mind, download the 1.7.2 version! It will take you to a page with a link for the download. It will be an adfly link.
Go here for the mod: http://www.minecraftforum.net/topic/1544257-172shaders-mod-v239-updated-by-karyonix/
2. Next, you need forge. To make this work smoothly, at the end of your download name of the shaderscoremod, there will be a number. Please try to match that number with the end of the forge download name. It is not required, but it is recommended.
The forge download is NOT to be added to your mods folder, it is an automatic download!
Forge Download Link: http://files.minecraftforge.net/
3. Now you need to download the shader texturepacks themselves. Below are links to some great shaderpacks! (You do not have to use these).

4. Now to initiate the steps. To make this all easier, put all the items downloaded onto your desktop. It saves a lot of work. Start with installing forge. Right click the download, and do open with Java(TM) Platform SE Binary. A windown will open up. Click install client. If you get a message that says you need to manually run 1.7.2 once, all you have to do is go to your minecraft and play it with 1.7.2 on.
5. Go to your .minecraft folder (accessed through AppData, Roaming), and then create two new folders. Name them both as following. Create one and call it "shaderpacks" and make another called "mods". If you already have a mods folder, don't worry. You don't need to make a new one. Make sure the one called shaderpacks is spelled correctly or it won't work!
6. Click on the mods folder, and drag and drop the ShadersCoreMod into it. Then, take all the shaderpacks you have downloaded and drop them into the shaderpacks folder.
7. You almost done! Run your minecraft, and click edit profile. Click on use version, and scroll down until you find the forge (It should be at the very bottom). Then, just check JVM Arguements. You can edit it to what you like, but keep in mind, it could cause horrible lag if you change it too much. (The G). Now click play, and wait for it to load. Once your minecraft title screen opens up, go to options. If you added the shaderpacks folder right, there should be a new tab called Shaders. Click on it, and select the shaders pack you like.
Enjoy your new shaders!
