HOW TO MAKE THE PERFECT FACTION
The Step-By-Step Guide

So, are you tired of your crappy faction? Are you tired of having a 5x5 underground base? Are you tired of having -10 power? Are you just sick of being betrayed all the time? Do you hate getting raided every other day? Yes, yes, yes, yes and YES!

This guide shows you how to turn this teammate-

How to Make the Perfect Faction

Into this-

How to Make the Perfect Faction

How to turn this craphole-

How to Make the Perfect Faction

Into this mansion-

Well, do you want that? Of course you do! Wanna know how? Well, the answer is simple! Just read on!

CHAPTER 1:
Building the Faction
Alright, you wanna start of by doing /f create [Insert F Name here]. It is recommended to start a faction with a friend; that extra person makes the faction all the more appealing. Also, getting popular with the guys on the server won't hurt to get more members. Here's some good faction tags (the name is the creator of the faction):
DarkAngels (Flameboy806
GODS (pale1)
LostKings (I have no clue, to be honest)
Decessus (HazardousTurtle)
Mafia (Me!!!!11!!)
Loners (jakeak01)
Here's some BAD tags I've seen on that server:
MLG (Xx_Waffle_xX)
MxC (amazingmac11)
HomeDawgs (Me!!!!11!!)
sdpjgowgh (Some idiot I saw one time)
RosenHell (diamondev)
There's several others, but you get the point.
OK, now on with the actual building of the faction. To start, get some friends together and make a faction. Use any CREATIVE tag (the better the tag, the more popular it will be-- trust me). The better the people in your faction are, the more people will want to join-- trust me here, too. Get a few GOOD and POPULAR people on the server to make the faction. Don't pick some random newb who just joined the server to join your faction. A good ratio for mods/members would be 6 members: 1 mod. Keep your faction ALIVE. This doesn't mean keep the physical FACTION alive, but keep it active. Have common faction events-- such as raiding teams and occasionally letting some random guy join the faction and then killing him (always fun).

CHAPTER 2:
The Base
The base is the most important part of the faction. Without it, the faction would QUICKLY fall apart within a day. Here's some tips on picking where and how to build your base:
Tip 1: Go FAR from spawn
Seriously, if your base is 300 blocks from spawn, it's gonna get raided, looted and griefed (if it's allowed on the server). Go at least 4000 blocks in both the X and Z coordinates from any known warps or major bases (if it's a small base, raid it, loot it, and then go at least another 1000 blocks).
Tip 2: Build a secure base
This one's a no brainer. Have walls, a roof, locked rooms, secret chests, hidden passage ways, NO entrances or exits. I will go into more detail about this later in the blog, but for now, this is all I'm gonna tell you.
OK, so now that I gave you tips, you should have a basic idea of what to do. Now I'll go into detail.

SUBCHAPTER 1:
Security
I already went into a basic draft about it up there ^, but here's an in-depth guide.
So, to start off, go at LEAST 8000 blocks from spawn or warps (adding up both X and Y). Then find a suitable location. Some of the coolest bases I've seen were built in a crater, over mountains, underground caverns (not the craphole, actual caverns and tunnels), and ravine towns. But here, I'll just talk about the normal, flat base (I know, bummer).
To start, build a wall. Make it 30 blocks wide and 30 blocks long, and 15-20 blocks high. Make it 2-3 blocks thick, and make it out of the strongest material you have an abundant amount of (most likely cobblestone). Add a boardwalk around the wall, with a 1 block overhang (none of those pesky spiders can get in now >:D). Then add a roof. Make it the same height as the wall (so the walkway is 1 higher than the roof). MAKE SURE that the staircase up to the wall is closed off by trapdoors (so no invaders can get in), or if you're fancy, regular doors. Have NO Nether Portals in your base, unless closed off with its own security measures (so nobody can portal trick into the base). And, close off your mine with locked iron doors.

SUBCHAPTER 2:
The Actual Base
Inside your castle walls and elaborate roof, there is an empty wasteland, maybe a few hills and trees in it. It is cool to have hills IN your walls, so you could leave them there. Make a main building, and do /f sethome in it. Then you can build a storage room and a kill room (for betrayers). Build a lot of traps outside your base, too, to keep out intruders.

CHAPTER 3:
The Key to a Healthy Faction
In order to have a healthy faction, you need to keep it alive. Here's a list of things you need to sustain a healthy faction:
Several Members
Good Members
Mods
Allies
Enemies
Money in the Bank
Active Admin
Power
I have developed 2 ways to keep each thing healthy. The second way will always be the best one.

SUBCHAPTER 1:
Several Members
Method 1: Making friend, and inviting them to your faction (not that hard)
Method 2: Becoming feared and famous, so everyone will want to join you
SUBCHAPTER 2:
Good Members
Method 1: Only invite good members who rarely die and have lots of good stuff
Method 2: Be strict, enforce rules and discipline people. It will really put people in their place.
SUBCHAPTER 3:
Mods
Method 1: Make your friends the mods of the faction, and make sure they're trustworthy
Method 2: Make people earn it. Make them prove they're worthy of the position
SUBCHAPTER 4:
Allies
Method 1: Make friends, and ally them. But those allies can be a pain to work with
Method 2: Become feared and everyone will want to ally you
SUBCHAPTER 5:
Enemies
Method 1: Kill a bunch of people and enemy them
Method 2: Enemy the strongest factions and TEAR THEM DOWN
SUBCHAPTER 6:
Money in the Bank
Method 1: Put all your and your members' money into the bank
Method 2: Set up a donations system, the more in-game money one donates will earn them more ranks
and respect
SUBCHAPTER 7:
Active Admin
(Only 1 Method) Just get on often. Pretty easy
SUBCHAPTER 8:
Power
Method 1: Invite the strongest, most powerful people to your faction
Method 2: Discipline. Kick people who suck and keep the good people.

CHAPTER 4:
Fun (The Most Important Part)
If your faction is boring and strict (this is good, but too strict is bad), then it will shine a bad shadow on your faction. Be fun and happy, give people stuff for doing stuff. RAID OTHER FACTIONS. Raiding and looting is seriously the most fun thing you can ever do on a server (if the server allows it). Keep the faction alive. I know this is badminship, but when you kick a not-so-great player, kill him. It's pretty fun.

CHAPTER 5:
Land, Power and Money
So I heard you like money. Well power, land and money are all necessities for the faction and each other (you can't have land without power, you can't have land without money). In order to maintain and balance each, you're gonna have to keep a well-balanced system.
CLAIMING LAND
It's necessary to claim the faction base, and that could take up to 20 chunks and 400-500$. Also, it is a good idea to claim each member's personal base. That is good for two reason: so the house won't be raided, and if he betrays, you can kick him and he can't destroy or build in his base, and you can steal everything. However, if you're power is in the negatives, someone else can actually claim your land. That's why you need to balance power with this.
MONEY
The donations system is the best. When you first make the faction, however, it would be smart to put a good half of your money into it. You need money to claim land, show the map, invite people and unclaim,so you should be fishing in a good amount on a daily basis (about $300 daily).
POWER
This one's simple, kick the negative power person, kill him, destroy his base, and make him RAGE. It's always a good and fun way to discipline him.

CHAPTER 6:
Can I join your faction?
You will hear this ALL the time from newbs who just joined the server. It would be a bad idea to let them join. 85% of the time, this guy just wants to grief your faction. Most importantly, NEVER give him faction mod. He will just kick everyone, destroy the base and do as much crap as a Mod can.

SUBCHAPTER:
Who you should let in
Only let the most trusted people in. If you've know him for a while (whether it be in real life or in-game), and you trust him, it would be safe to allow him to join.

CHAPTER 7:
Discipline and punishment
For once, being as harsh as you can is the way to go. Don't take crimes/betrayal lightly. Here's 5 things to do when someone betrays you:
1. Grief his base, and steal all his stuff
2. Kick him (of course)
3. Kill him
4. Gang up against him, and make him RAGE
5. us3 1337 h4x0rz agenst hem cuz he iz a n00b

SUBCHAPTER 1:
Discipline
Don't only do the 5 things if he betrays you, do it if he sucks at the game! If he's bad and he sucks, do all that. If he's a jerk, do it too! if he breaks a minor rule, only kill him. The rest isn't necessary.

SUBCHAPTER 2:
Rules
Of course, faction rules can be easily broken without punishment (as they are faction, not official server rules enforced by the owner). Some basic rules would be:
1. No Betraying (You will be brutally massacred and your hometown will be burnt down)
2. No Being a Jerk
3. Respect the Admin and all Mods
4. Respect Other Members
5. No Acting Innocent when Disobeying-- If you grief us, we WILL grief you and you CANNOT hide it
There are, of course, more rules, but those are a good basic.

THAT'S ALL THE THINGS YOU NEED TO KNOW

IF YOU'RE A FACTION ENTREPRENEUR

Maybe I'm just too soft, but I got inside'd today, and I'm not mad. I even let him off the hook and let him keep the stuff (he got most of it anyways.) I really don't think its worth yelling about people and saying 'they suck', because that's really childish. When I see factions doing that, it actually makes me not want to join them.
Just saying.

Replace the doors with iron doors, and add a watchtower or maybe a few windows. Make sure the watchtower has no openings so nobody can enderpearl in.

Just stay in the faction for a long time and try not to piss the admin off too often... And of course help the faction out by gathering resources and defeating enemy factions.

Sorry my comment was kinda late though...
