Hello everyone, I've noticed that there are tons of servers out there with really no one playing on them!
So I decided to make this Tutorial with very simple and easy steps to make your server popular, but it does take time!
Ok so thats really it for right now I could talk about more but this is a ton of info. After doing all this all you have to do is wait a few days or it could take a few weeks. Just make sure you don't scare off your players.

So I decided to make this Tutorial with very simple and easy steps to make your server popular, but it does take time!
1. Banners, first off, when your making your minecraft server banner.gif don't use topg's Banner maker. Make it yourself and if you don't know how to make one, just make some photos and then use a gif creator to turn those photos into a banner.
2. Advertisment, this is very important. And I don't mean stuff you have to pay for, but do things such as posting your minecraft server on every single Minecraft Server list website there is. This does not mean spam your server everywhere that makes you look very unproffesional, and never go on someone elses server and advertise on it then leave. The reason why you should never do this is because it makes you look bad, it makes you look like your server is crapy and your desperate. No one wants to join a crapy server right?
3. Proffesional posting looks, the way this works is when your posting your server on websites or forums, or wherever. You need to make sure that your server title is in caps. Such as lets say your server name is "TacoCraft" well if you post your servers title on a website like Well that looks pitiful! No one wants to join a server with the title of what it looks like a 2 year old trying to get people on there server! Do something like this instead
Crapy Server Title
"tacocraft plzz join, if you join you get free diamonds!"
Pro Server Title
"TacoCraft | First Time Join Free Diamond!"
The other part of this is when posting on a website you need to have your description look proffesional. Again with the begging and it needs to have good grammar. So again Taco Craft's desc could be but it should be more like this You could even go as far to adding a list of plugins, or gamemodes.
Crapy Server Desc
"plz join!!! free diamonds if you join!!! the ip is YourIP, JOIN PLZ!!!!!!"
Pro Server Desc
"Taco Craft, First time join you get free diamonds!
Join Now: YourIP"
Join Now: YourIP"
4. Websites, websites arn't to important but the reason why Im brining this up is because lots of people can tend to have a forums or even donations setup and yet no one really becomes a member or says anything. Well lets get straight to the problem that usually occurs when this happens. You guys tend to start advertising you website to the players on your server alot, that can be really annoying. Don't ever shove your website in there faces, don't even go as far to just say in the chat: Hey join our website: adress
5. Voting, everyone really loves voting plus it can help your rank on your server go up for certain websites which leads to more people joining you server and then that leads to more votes, and so on and so fourth. But no ones gonna vote if there just voting for nothing! Why would you vote for the server if you get nothing out of it? Well sure some people might still do a little voting but if you get something such as more money on your economy plugin, or even diamonds for goodness sake. More people will vote for your server.
6. Staff, now im not saying that you need staff right away but your gonna need staff sometime around. But you need to make sure that the staff, are mature. Im-mature staff no one likes those. Staff are good to have because they can watch the server and help people while your away. If those staff arn't mature then they could be mean or talk about bad things or just do something that might upset another player.
7. Proffesional Hubs. Well look this is not really that hard. Never download a hub from a website or copy someone elses desing of a server hub. Trust me even if your servers only running survival you should still have a hub. It doesn't need portals and stuff but it should be a nice big building with staff names, and top players, top donors, and so on. And if you just download or copy someone elses hub they made well other people might notice that and then your server will no longer look professional.
8. Games and plugins, if you want you server to be popular technically you don't need to have tons of minigames, or gamemodes and stuff. I mean I've been on plenty of servers that only had survival yet had hundreds of players. The reason for this is mainly because of what plugins they had. For survival, people like to have Kits they can buy, or they like the plugin towny or even people like factions as a type of survival. Another major things players love having in there survival is some form of economy, and shops. If you have a hub with shops in it for survival, you can sell things or even let players sell there own things. And again plugining in an economy plugin is a great idea for having rewards for voting, donating, or just logging in daily, or even for shops and way more other uses!
9. Another small detail is, if you can control your max-player-amount don't have it really hight like 2500, unless you have hundreds of players in your server already. For servers with only like 1-150 players keep your max-player-amount very low such as at 150 players. Because if your maxs players is really high it can make your server look bad because it can hold so many players but it barely has anyone on it.
Ok so thats really it for right now I could talk about more but this is a ton of info. After doing all this all you have to do is wait a few days or it could take a few weeks. Just make sure you don't scare off your players.
