Okay, so when I was a n00b, I always wanted a mod on my computer, so now I am making all current and future n00bs a tutorial on how to install a mod for Windows 7.

1. Get WinRAR (LINK: http://www.rarlab.com/download.htm )

2. Click the "Start" button and type in "Run" or "%appdata%" (OR) '%AppData%'. If you type in "Run", type in "AppData" in the box provided.

3. Click on "Roaming and/or minecraft.bin

4. Right-Click minecraft.jar and go to "Open With..."

5. Click "Choose Default Program..."

6. Click "Browse" if you can't see WinRAR in the area of recommended programs and browse to WinRAR.

7. Once you have WinRAR selected press "OK"

8. Download the desired Mod. (A good starter Mod is TooManyItems [Scroll down to where it says "Dowload TooManyItems 1.2.5 Now!"] . You can get that here: http://www.minecraftmine.org/too-many-items-mod/)

9. Right click your folder/archive and open it with WinRAR.

10. Drag the files from your Mod folder/archive into minecraft.jar and delete the META-INF file (MOST IMPORTANT PART!)

11. Close your folder/archive and minecraft.jar and any other folders.

12. Run Minecraft.

13. If your Minecraft crashes or has a black screen for more than 5 minutes, exit out, open your launcher, and clikc "Options", "Force Update" and it will turn grey and say "Will Force!" and so click "Ok" and run Minecraft, then try again.

NOTE: Before doing this all, I suggest Backing up your Minecraft so that instead of Step 13, if Minecraft crashes you can just navigate back to your minecraft.jar and replace it with the backup one. To backup Minecraft, go and click your original minecraft.jar ONCE and do Ctrl+cc and then make a folder called "Minecraft Backup" or something of the sort, and do Ctrl+vv in the folder and you have your Backup. All you have to do to replace the old minecraft.jar is to drag and drop it into the "bin" folder and if it says "Do you want to replace this Folder? 'minecraft.jar'" you click Yes, move and replace.

I hope this tutorial helped.
