Lately I've been seeing some of those "Why aren't I getting noticed?" rants from members just barely starting to create content. My comment to one was finally,

"Yo dude, just keep producing quality content and getting better, and it will come! Impatience is the bane of your generation! Instant gratification is not the norm for all things in life. =)"

Man, it seems like more and more we are becoming a society of instant gratification.

Kids growing up in the newest generations just expect the world to act like the internet, or something. You type in what you want and the results appear immediately. Then they are surprised when it turns out all of life does not work that way.

Conclusion: I now realize all my years of Dial-up were character building. That is all :]

Just a rant from an "old" (21 years of age) guy here on PMC. ;)

That's rich man, I can relate to that, I still have ' ye olde ' 33K6 RS-232 dailup somewhere, those were the day's.

Anyway, good article. It can be seen everywhere nowadays, that shortened attention span. In almost all sighted cases those kids really behave like idiots, and need to be properly educated. Kids these day's don't know how life is without broadband and cellphones with social media, so lets take that away from them for a few months i say =] .

Hey Happybandaid, I read this and was wondering, does popularity have anything to do with the judging of the contest? Because I see some skins that don't make the "Popular Skin," slideshow, but are better than some that do. On the other hand, public response could sorta be a judging thing.

As Head Skin Contest Judge, I can safely say that we judges look through each and every skin, disregarding popularity and judging based on the quality of the skin itself. :]

Have a happy day!

It's true. Not many people sit at home for meals anymore, they rush out to a restaurant, most likely a fast food one, and things are getting so much faster to be done, like technology. (Dare I? Nope. Not that joke. Not here.)

I saw a featured blog post on here a couple of days ago asking 'WHY AM I NOT GETTING VIEWS?'. Maybe because your asking; just carry on what your doing and enjoy, and just remember that as long as your fans support you, whether it be a lot or practically none, never give up.

It's funny, because when my mom is on Comcast with people, she often is screaming into the telephone after the third time they put her on hold. She just gives it to me to handle, and since I almost always have nothing to do, I wait on customer service for 2, 3 sometimes 4 hours when they have a foreign person who can barely speak English -.-

But yes, I've been here for nearly 5 months now, and i guess i could still be considered a n00b, and it is kind of rewarding when you either see your past skins and current ones as they progress and get better.

Even though I don't get very much recognition, I still make skins, and the reason i do is for that one person, and usually he/she is just a level 1 or 2, that says, "Man these skins are fantastic! I wish my skins could be as good as yours!1!!", and that just makes my day.
P.S.-- I shoulda made this a blog...

Its so true that living on a dial-up connection builds character. I only got off dial-up a year ago and moved to broadband. Seems though I am the only one out of my friends who can be patient and maintain a cool head when games go laggy/downloads take a while.

Still remember waiting sometimes 1hr for a 1minute youtube video to load  ^^

I could really care less about who looks at my stuff. The opportunity of posting my projects on here is good enough for me. I almost use it as a portfolio that I can look back on at a later date to see how much I have improved over that frame of time. I don't count on becoming famous anytime soon, and that's perfectly fine with me.

I absolutely, positively agree. It seems like people forget that even the very best skinners started out as unknowns here with only a few subscribers. How did they get popular? They uploaded a high quantity of quality submissions. They didn't do anything magical. Everyone has the same opportunity to get as 'popular' as they are now, it's not as though people in lower levels are somehow being 'oppressed' by those in the upper levels.

*Sigh*...It amazes me how people think they need to become popular on the Internet...Well, here's my letter to them:

Being popular should not be a goal. Especially on the Internet. Why, you ask? Simply because you have a real life, real family members, and real friends. Heck, you might even have a real girlfriend or boyfriend.

So don't get caught up in the Internet. Play outside, go out with your family and/or friends, or even get some education.
