Hello!
My Name is Ezzie. I just recently did a post about Autism in minecraft and it got a very good response. Today I want to talk about something else of importance to me:
Keeping YOUR identity personal!.
A lot of people claim they know this... But do you really?
They teach you in schools to keep your identity to yourself... But a lot of people are dumb enough to not!
1) Never give out your name. First OR last
If you give out your first name, it's actually surprising as to what they can actually do with it. I mean, if they know your first name it isn't the end of the world. But don't use your real last name.. EG if your real name is Rob Llaana, don't make you IGN RobLlaana or Rob_Llana. Because people can easily find your address.
2) Don't give any locations
Fair enough if you're on a French server and you're speaking English, your likely to be either Australian, English, American or Canadian. But if you give out a country, it isn't the end of the world. Just don't give out a town or a city.
Especially with the first point. If they know you're called Robby and you're from Hampshire.. They can put a search out and find your IP, then your address.
3) Don't skype with people you don't know
Go careful who's out there. If they claim to be the same age as you then that's not always true. Even if you video call them (That's a stupid idea) and you can physically SEE they're the same age... That's still not always the case. Some people get younger children to sit in front of the camera... It rarely happens but it still does!
4) NEVER Agree to meet up with someone
It's a no brainer but people still do it! There are exceptions though. Small exceptions. If you KNOW for certain they're who they say they are and your parents/carers agree and have spoke to their parents. You could arrange a meet up. But you'd have to take parents with you and they would have to take their parents to. Schedule this meeting in an open area surrounded by people. NEVER DO IT AT NIGHT
5) If it sounds to good to be true, it probably is
If someone says they live in the same village as you, likes the EXACT same music as you, has the same favourite food as you, plays football like you do... It's too good to be true.
If you're ever unsure, you can just either block them or make something up. Like "My favourite band is asiajoafsojafsojojaf" (Don't use a real band) If they say they love them too, block them and report that account immediately.
6) If you ever feel in any danger, report them!
You MUST report them if you feel scared/nervous. I will leave some links to help you at the bottom of this blog.
Thank you very much for reading this. Here are some links and details about them

I usually do all these, not in the way to keep myself safe, but in the way that I tell people stuff.. Have never had a problem ;)
Have a nice day
