Greetings Planet denizens, it is I, Zaralith, Destroyer of Worlds, among other titles. I write this report today to discuss the lag that has been taking place on the site recently. Some of you are scratching your heads because you have not seen this lag. Others are not even reading this because your requests timed out trying to load this page... again... for the 17th time in a row.
Some of you may think that your computer is full of fail, viruses, or gremlins, or that your internet connection is just a string. Others believe that our current latency issues (fancy word for lag, try it sometime) are the fault of the host that houses the content in that shiny clouded sky called the internet. In both cases you are probably right. Some of you really do just have crap connections, but you know who you are. The rest of you are also correct, there is an issue with our host that is currently causing lag on the site.
The host for PlanetMinecraft.com has communicated to us (another fancy word meaning told) that they are having a problem with parent node. What this means (translated from robot to Steve) is that one of the main connections between the big computer holding the site and the rest of the internet is being lame. The host is currently working on the problem and will keep us informed of the progress. We will also be working on optimizing (more vocabulary, this one meaning to make better somehow) some of the functions on the site, such as clearing out old data and making some of the shiny things work faster by upgrading the way that they work to be nicer to machines, if not people.
What does this mean for you?
As the host corrects the problems with the parent node and we apply optimizations to existing systems and functions, you will see a decrease in the amount of lag on PlanetMinecraft. You can also try checking your computer for things that might be slowing it down with programs like Spybot, CCleaner, and Defraggler. Rest assured, we are working to make things better, and the future is bright enough to set of a daylight sensor (coming soon, copyright Mojang, version 1.5 Redstone edition, etc, yada yada, blah blah blah)
