My Review of Minecraft Server: ChosenCraft
IP: play.chosencraft.com
Website: www.chosencraft.com (duh.)
I submitted my blog the other day on server reviewing - and an admin directed me to review their server, ChosenCraft. I first logged on with my second account, first impression, the server's spawn is very unique, and isn't super-colorful or overwhelming. It's a large cave or hollowed out mountain, and there are two telepads in the center. The server is a survival server, with Towny installed to provide a bit of anti-grief. The admins and moderators are generally not idiots, and they definitely give off an impression that they know what they're doing. Some are also very nice, on my second account, one by the name of "cheesecube"(I think) gave me a wood sword and pick at the spawn.
Also, before I played on this server, I had an unusual bias towards the plugin "Towny", because it's kind of a more softened PvP mod compared to Factions(the PvP plugin my server uses.), and it leans more towards a roleplay aspect. After joining a town called Lordareon with "Swiggle", I soon got the idea of Towny, and how it fits into survival gameplay. I still prefer Factions, however.
Overall, this server is absolutely great. The community is very open and friendly, the server has a lot of people on it all the time, so it's no beat-down botched Vanilla server running on someone's home computer. It's owners didn't compromise either, my connection to the server was exceptionally smooth and stable. Although occasionally I did get lag, especially while mining, but I think it's due to Bukkit Dev being retarded, and not the physical server.
Drawbacks? Problems...? Uhh... well... I could say that, the shop is a bit complicated and they don't allow for a lot of selling. Instead, people have to barter in the chat and tp to the spawn to exchange, and that is another problem, the "selling 64 nether brick for $100" messages in the chat can be a bit annoying. Also, Towny can be a bit confusing to work for those not familiar with it... other than that, it was a great experience all around.
Score: 9/10
Any questions/comments, or if you want me to review your server, you can comment on this blog or send me a PM.
Update 1/19:
I've revisited this server a couple of times, my opinion of it hasn't really changed. I still recommend any survival/Towny nut to try this server out.
