Yay! 28th Place! Thanks guys!
Steve had always lived in the mild climate of the Oak Forests and had always had plenty of water from the nearby well and a fall-back source from his Water Collection Basin. One day, Steve wanted to go on an adventure and see what other Biomes there were besides the Forests. He first stumbled into the Taiga, a cold snowy place, where it did not rain and made his Water Collection Basin useless, but he remained hydrated for longer periods of time. He continued his journey and later found himself in a Jungle Biome which was damp and hot. It was so moist his Collection Basin was filled in seconds! But the heat was unbearable, and too keep hydrated, made frequent stops to have a drink. When he arrived at the edge of the Jungle, he saw the desolate landscape of the Desert. The few plants that had tried to grow there had shriveled up. The only plants that had beat the heat were the cacti. They stood tall and sinister and beckoned him into their embrace. Steve ventured cautiously, but soon found out that his water store was quickly running out. He turned to head back but could no longer see the towering trees of the Jungle. He started looking frantically around but could not see anything. To his astonishment he saw the edge of a forest, much like the one he had lived in. He ran towards it but as he neared the edge, it disappeared. Cursing under his breath, Steve continued his journey. After only a few minutes, his Hydration level was dangerously low. There was no shade and he had drank all of his water. His vision started to blur. He was staggering around, trying to regain his bearings. He started coughing and gagging. All he could do was lay on the hot sand and hope he would die quickly. His vision faded. All he could see was darkness.
A possible addition would be to add a Hydration Meter where you must keep The Player hydrated by drinking bottles of water or other liquid including potions (and Mushroom Stew maybe?).
Hydration Meter:
It makes the game more interesting and keeps the player alert and encourages them to brew and cook. (Main reason Hunger Games was added)
The rate of dehydration would change by how much energy The Player is exerting and what Biome they are in. Another consideration would be light level. If you're out in the middle of the Desert, you will quickly dehydrate. A solution would be to drink water, go to a cooler Biome, or to find some shade. The effects of dehydration include: Nausea, Slowness, Weakness, and eventually a form of slow poison that takes out half a heart every 15 seconds.
Dehydration Effects:
- It would be extremely hard but maybe Mirages could also be added pre dizziness and slowness
- Allow it to rain in the Desert but at a very low chance (2%-5%). Also the raining period would extend to about the length of two days instead of the the regular one day raining period.
- Have a Water Collection Basin that could collect rainwater and hold 2 buckets of water's worth. A good collection device for large deserts, where currently, it does not rain.
Crafting Recipe:
- Add Water Splash Potions to use against Endermen who take (6) hearts of damage. This is about as strong as a hit from an Iron Sword.
- Add a Command: /Gamerule Hydration (True/False)
- Possibly add Fridges which can chill water and give up to 1.5 extra Hydration Points.
- Create a water tap which can extract some water but only enough to fill one bar in the Hydration Meter.
