Fish were originally introduced into Minecraft in alpha 1.2.0 as an item (Raw Fish). There were, at the time, plans to create a mob of the fish in time for the Halloween update however this never surfaced and we still today have only an item to hook.
My Minedea is to, if not add a fish mob, add more variety of fish to hook, each with their own individual characteristics/effects/properties. The idea originally spawns from plans between TheMysteriousMRM and I to make a mod entitled Fishermans Friend! I cano t say whether this mod will ever be made, the ball is in his court, however I did complete the textures and I have to say Io m pretty proud of them! So what follows is a brief summary of just five of the fish and what I think they should do:
Lava Fish:
The whereabouts - This fish should be available for capture in the Nether, being a constant source of food. However for added difficulty you would have to craft an iron rod, to overcome the heat.
The whatabouts o The fish would grant fire resistance, when consumed.
Diamond Fish:
The whereabouts - Deep underground lakes
The whatabouts o Spawns numerous diamonds when caught
Regal Tang:
The whereabouts - Jungle lakes. This one is essentially Dory from Finding Nemo and is for aesthetics rather than anything else.
The whatabouts o May be able to be caught and released in your own aquarium
Sardine:
The whereabouts - Normal pockets of water.
The whatabouts o Can be tinned and then consumed for higher HP gain! This would require iron.
Steve Fish:
The whereabouts - Normal pockets of water. Looks like Steve!
