New Minecraft Mob: Netherdragon

So seeing that my last "new minecraft mob blog" got great reviews that i wanted to make a another one. This time it is on a boss. Now the bosses name is the Netherdragon. I know there is already a boss in the nether, but this is gonna be better than the wither.

Netherdragon Facts:

  • will fly like a enderdragon.
  • will only be found in nether.
  • will only be found in nether near lava.
  • will be bigger than enderdragon.
  • will have 3 times as more HP as a wither.
  • will drop "nether fire" a new block that is purely red fire and will light forever on any block.
  • will drop 250 exp orbs and when defeated it will have a cool animation. That animation of its death should be fire burning it.
  • This mob is not rare and Ghasts don't like them.

Netherdragon Stats:

Health: 200 hearts
Attack: True
Drops: Red Fire
Can be tamed with a blaze leash.

New Blocks:

Red Fire: Is a fire that is purely red and stays lit on any block.

Blaze Leash: is a leash crafted with blaze rods. Below is a diagram showing how it is crafted.

The Netherdragon is a very smart mob. It attacks by shooting fireballs at  you, and those fireballs make zombie pigmen attack you. It also has another attack called fire spray. Which is continues fire sprayed at you for 3 seconds. When the Netherdragon uses fire spray it does not attack for 10 seconds. This is the best time to attack it.

1. Boo7 said "for a boss that powerful, getting a fire decoration seems a bit of a rip off, how about something better like a friendly magma cube egg, or even Nether cloth, that you use to make a fire cloak that lights mobs on fire that are close to you, and makes you lava/ fire proof"

2. Guy From Earth said "It should be possible to "shrink" into an item by sneaking and left/right clicking with the blaze leash (after tamed of course). This should allow you to bring it to any dimension. :3"

Possibly there should be a stronghold in the nether that would take you to a special nether boss fight room. Since they would not be rare I can see myself raging because it keeps killing me, and when I beet that one there would be one right behind it....

A boss that powerful should be either made by building (like the Wither and Iron / Snow Golems) or be one time (like the Enderdragon). Also it should give loads of fire blocks so you can MAKE YOUR OWN CHAIN MAIL ARMOR!!!

the dragon, once tamed, should be able to be bred with gold because dragons like gold. the blaze leash should work like a fishing rod so you dont have to climb fifty blocks to get to it

when you kill the dragon,all the lava in the nether suddenly turns to water ~so the dragon drops dont fall into lava~the dragon should drop: 1)a cape you can put in body slot of armor like a minecon cape.whenever its on you all nether mobs will never attack unless provoked. 2) a spawn baby netherdragon.this is so you dont end up spawning a 30 block big dragon into the overworld and it gets stuck in a wall.it spawns a baby netherdragon you can tame by feeding netherdragon biskuts ~dropped by netherdragon~ note:if you dont tame it in 20 seconeds,it starts shooting fireballs everywhere then its over so be carefull!

Hey smanrt! I Have a idea you can make the Baby Netherdragon turn into a adult only by when your lv 30 give the Baby Netherdragon 2 Blazerods and once done it Cause a explosion and then launch itself 10 blocks into the air and slowly land like a chicken! and it will be a adult but like the enchanting table you will lose your experience. but you can ride the Adult Netherdragon which is tamed and if you kill the Enderdragon riding the Netherdragon The Enderdragon egg will be replaced with a Half Enderdragon and Half Netherdragon color and you can hatch it the same as the Netherdragon at it will do everything the same as it!

When netherdragon is killed it should drop an egg, and when hatched you get a baby pet netherdragon :D.

Smanrt, mebbe It should be in some sort of lake of lava, and lava pours from the ceiling. Like the Enderdragon gains health from the beacons, the Netherdragon should gain healh when it flies through the lava. To prevent him from doing this, you must plug up the lava. Idk :~: Just something I thought of.

How about in the nether you could find a dragon's nest. in that nest there is an nether dragon egg, which can be mined using a diamond pickaxe. When mined, you will obtain the egg but a nether dragon will spawn within the area and attack you. Defeating it will give you lots of xp and other usefull things (maybe a nether star), but nothing special. The dragon egg must be taken to the overworld and be placed in a nether altar, made like this:

The egg must be placed on top of the soulsand and be set on fire by a flint and steel. The egg will hatch and you will get a tamed nether dragon baby, which will be not much larger than a pig. This baby can be used in two ways:


1. In hostile mode, the nether dragon baby will act like wolves and attack any mobs or monsters the player attacks or is attacked by, but this time including creepers. The nether dragon baby will shoot small fireballs simular to the ghast that will set mobs on fire, but don't set terrain on fire (so you don't have to worry about starting a forest fire).
2. In peaceful mode, the nether dragon baby will emit light just like glowstone, redstone lamps or pumpkins.


The nether dragon baby's behaviour mode can be changed by right-clicking it while it is on the nether altar and can be done unlimited times. The nether dragon baby will walk or hover around you and has 15 hearts of hp. When the nether dragon dies, it will not drop anything but within 50 minecraft days a new nether dragon egg will spawn in the nether dragon nest in the nether. But be careful, because the nether dragon will spawn again when you mine the new nether dragon egg!

That's not a crafting design, it's just the way you place the blocks, like creating an Iron/Snow Golem or the Beacon pyramid.

You make it sound like blaze rods are easy to get. My friends and I have played a VERY long time and have never found a nether stronghold outside of a server. Anyone have any tips to find a stronghold?

Yeah, just search for bridges, and you probably turned off the structure spawning option.
when you see a bridge, then just follow it, they mostly lead to nether strongholds

I think this would be cool if the ghast was stronger so it wouldnt get murdered every time it spawned. Also this could be the size of the ender dragon is now but the ender dragon will be a lot bigger.

What if when it dies, it drops a Netherdragon tooth, which you need to craft a Netherspear. The spear would have to be crafted with 2 diamonds in a stick formation, and it's as powerful as a diamond sword and can be doubled as a flint and steel, as well as be invincible.

I think the crafting recipe for the blaze leash should be like a fishing rod except with all the sticks with blaze rods and string as blaze powder (or more blaze rods)!
