I've noticed recently that there seems to have been a rather large influx on stupid things hitting the pop reel. Really stupid things. This seems to affect 3 main areas of the site; Projects, Texture packs, and skins. A quick example for each of these categories that seem to come up a lot:

Project: "Mah epic dirt house LOL"- 20 Diamonds
Pretty cool house or castle or whatever else - 3 Diamonds

OK, that house or castle may not be the coolest build world, but its a darn sight better than a 3x3 house constructed out of dirt. I thought Planet Minecraft was about rewarding creativity, not stupidity? Anyway, now texture packs.

Texture Pack: "My really cool 1x1 TP" - 30 diamonds
A cool TP with a decent amount of time invested into it - 10 diamonds

Same applies here as with the projects really, it may not be the nicest looking TP, but at least it has more than 1 pixel in it

Blogs: "7 facts you didn't know about Minecraft" - 100 diamonds (Yes, I'm almost certain this actually happened)
Story that took an hour to write - 3 diamonds

Everybody knows those 7 facts, everybody. I'm pretty sure even people who don't play Minecraft know about them. Occasionally these blogs turn up with genuinely bizarre information, but only once in a blue moon.

Now stupid submissions may not always pop up in the form that I have described here, but they are always around in one form or another. The people who made them or favourited them may defend them by saying "Oh, its only a joke". Yeah, for them maybe, but I bet you it's not for the guy who spent several days on his texture pack. or whatever else. Then again, If I knew that I could put minimal effort into something and get more popular than people who genuinely work hard, I think I would. The only thing that stops me is that I'm a decent person, I have self respect, and that I'm not a total popularity W***e.

You want to make PMC a better place? Start by rewarding genuinely creative people instead of fools.

Hey rageman, What if there was a rule where you couldn't diamond unless you were level 2 or above. This would get rid of a lot of annoying unfair diamond stuff.

You have to recognize it is not your opinion that is deciding what to be on the popular reel.


Also, amount of effort put in does not matter. As long as it looks nice enough to attract people's attention, it deserve to be popular reel and apparently that is what popular means.

I know that it is not my opinionthat decides the popular reel, I never stated it was. And yes, things that do look good will get on the pop reel. However, like uniblue, you are missing the point. If something looks good then most likely effort has been put in. But this blog is aimed at the ridiculous submissions. Can you honestly tell me that a 3x3 dirt house looks good?

It is nice to see that you do understand your opinion is not what takes to decide the reel. Now you should also recognize that you don't get to call projects "stupid projects", "ridiculous submissions" and etc.

For your 3x3 dirt house, unless you are able to show me what project you are talking about, I can't answer that question.

The project has been removed I do believe, although there are plenty out there, you just have to look. And as to your statement about me not being allowed to call projects ridiculous, why not? Surely I have the right to an opinion, same as anyone else?

No. Only if you make projects that are worth of applauds, you get the right.
Then would you actually get some examples then. Everything you pull out to support your statements are just "I believe", "I think". There hasn't been a specific example that I can look at.

Well, firstly, how can I bring up a project that doesn't exist anymore? Also, this isn't just about projects, its about blogs and texture packs to. And as for your argument as to me not having a right to an opinion because I haven't had a project on the pop reel. Well Im not even going to address that, but I suggest you brush up on your basic human rights.

I am quite sure most of your blogs were rants about crappy project. You titled them as weekly rage. In that sense, you do not have right to call something rubbish as you do not release something, well lets just say something.

Speaking of your human right point, I believe you are speaking about article 18 and 19 of UDHR. Apparently, those are just counsels. Those do not have absolute right. And in the same article, it clearly states, "Everyone has the right to freedom of thought" 
So you see, I have the right to deny the human right because everyone has the right to freedom of thought.

When I can get access to my PC ill find you the links to those although it was purely hypothetical, based on what I've seen come up before. As to "All of my blogs being about crappy projects", you may want to look at my blogs before accusing me of that, I'm pretty sure this is one of the first, if not the first blog on the topic. And as for the human rights, everybody has a right to an opinion, you can't deny someones opinion, because everybody has them. I can't tell someone they can't have an opinion in one way or another. And as for me not having released projects, fair call there, I haven't released loads, but surely as someone who makes a lot of projects yourself, you'd be annoyed if one of your projects got thrown off the popular reel or even didnt get their at all because of a project like a dirt hut, especially if you'd invested time and effort into it.

Just like you have right to have opinion, I have right to deny someone's opinion as long as I don't force people to follow my opinion because that is my opinion too and I also share the right to have opinion.
It is not like I have tried to take down your whole post or anything but just to show my opinion regarding to the subject, "stupid thing hitting popular reel" .


I would not get annoyed if my project got on to popular reel with some luckiness but taken down because of some dirt house because the community chose the dirt house rather than my project. It just shows to me that my project was not even comparable to a dirt house.

And if your always going to deny my opinion, then I don't see the point in wasting my time arguing my point against someone who clearly doesn't care what I think, nor are they ever going to listen to my point of view.

I saw a 2x2 texture pack on the pop reel not long ago.
it was approximately the 2,781,283,995th time that I lost faith in humanity.
Seriously, anyone could make that in 10 minutes.

I also recall seeing a lot of hoodie skins, or skins where Steve's face is clearly visible. Rubbish!
This is definetly one of the blogs deserving diamonds, so diamond4u :D

It seems to me that you are complaining about people, giving other creators who have made something bad or used less time, more diamonds.

Well, wake up. If people like something more than an other thing, who are you to say that's wrong? I do not agree with you that these random-diamond-giving people are the issue, but I do see the point about the creator who use more time on one thing, and get's less publicity and appreciation than someone who publish something short and random.

Let's say someone worked on a texture pack for 2 weeks, and then he finally publish it. He get's ca. 20 diamonds for that and nothing more. Then someone else suddenly makes a blog with a small amount of text, which he probably used 15 minutes on to write, and he gets 40 diamonds and gets featured on the front page (I'm talking about you). Isn't this also wrong?

Do you see why I don't get your problem?

Uniblue, I admire your works but ragemans post although ture to every wrd is incomplete. You see, if someone takes 5 months to make a pretty house and PMC, by right it should be on the front page. But the key point is importance. For example. In an apocolypse, do you take your i phone or food? The validity of it can sometimes ovverrule all else.

Hmm, you make a fair point, that I'm not going to deny, however you seem to have missed the key point. I know certain things take more effort than others to make. Im not saying that this took moree effort to write than say, making a texture pack. However, this blog isn't pointless, it raises and important issue. The point I'm raising here isn't that the things that take the most effort sometimes don't get pop reel, the point I'm trying to make is that sometimes things that take none or very little effort to make get pop reel far more than they should.

So is it the people who choose to give this "non-creative", non-hardworking creator a diamond, the really issue? Is it the free will of being able to give anyone you like a diamond, the issue? Is it the product of interest that's bothering you?  That the most wanted content gets on the reel?

What should be done? It seems like the solution here is to make people like more important things or more original contents. I understand that this is about what's more important that other things and that should be on the reel, rather than something unoriginal, stupid, but this is not a problem to solve.

I could list plenty of examples...

On YouTube for example, there's uploaded hundreds of well done videos about Africa and they're poorness, how you could help people that suffer every day, world-problems, politics, animations, short films etc... Videos that have taken weeks to make and often is well made. 

Do you know what's really on the front page of YouTube? Entertainment. Short flash-animations. Ray William Johnson's videos. Makeup-tutorials. Fail-videos of people hurting themselves. Isn't this also unimportant? Some of these videos even lacks so much of creativity and quality.

This "problem" here is because of peoples interest. What most of us find interesting and exciting, gets on the front page. If a dirt house that took 5 minutes to make, gets on the front reel, there's many people who find that house interesting or good. People could have said "Hey! Why is that on the front reel? This [other creation] is far more better than that!", but that just means most people find that dirt house more interesting than that other, way better creation.

I think this is a shame that people admire poor creations, instead of original, creative content, but this is not a problem to solve. The only way this could be solved, is by the admins, picking out new content everyday to be on the front reel.

It is a troublesome subject. As it is, the method for thenpopular reel is probably the best one, decided by the community. It would be far too much work for the mods to sift through every submission to make sure the pop reel only has quality content. As it is the blog is merely stating my distaste at the stupid things on the pop reel. But no one person can change this, only the community ad a whole can stop this.

I don'd get why you are complaining. I would assume out of all people that you would understand how people have different opinions. I don't agree with a lot of the front-page stuff but I will not assume that they are worthless and have had no thought put into them. People know what will get popular so that is what they post.

I'll admit that I haven't really seen any dirt houses on the reel. I have, though, seen a bunch of annoying youtube guys getting popular often with things that anyone could do. I mean, they're good at making videos, but that doesn't make the project any better.

Really, some of those blogs do have good things, (though it probably sounds idiotic coming from me.) But the texture pack thing has been happening a lot lately - 8x8, 4x4, 2x2 and then finally 1x1. It's really ticking me off. :/
