Hi everyone, this is my entry for the Survival Guide blogging contest. To be honest, I have been very pushed for time recently, and so I decided that even though I hadn't written much towards this as of yet, I would post this anyway in order to recieve the participation badge. I hope you enjoy what there is so far, and I will be updating, and finishing this story as soon as I am able.

Thanks!

The pages were wasting away with the slightest touch; the corners crumbled to the floor as thick layers of dust and debris built up against your feet. The words were clear enough to be deemed legible, but the handwriting made them somewhat difficult to read; the person writing this obviously was working under time pressure - they hadn’t had time to organise, and prioritise the points with “chapters”, “headings”, “sub-titles” or anything of the sort.

The makeshift guide opened with a distinctly bolded paragraph in the centre of the page, and a small 1 scrawled in the bottom-right corner.

I want to introduce myself. I’m the only person left in this warped universe that has a chance of saving you; I’m sure we would get along just swell. Really, I do. But the likelihood is that in a few pages I’ll be dead, and your world will never be the same after that. Don’t be disheartened though, you still have a chance. An almost inconceivably slim one at that, but a chance none the less. Remember that."

The ink may have smudged, and the weather-beaten pages might have smeared the letters together slightly, but the words would be difficult to miss. Your earlier excitement at the find had transformed into a new-found apprehension, and teetered on the edge of pernicious unbelief.

“How did I get in this position? I will tell you. Just please: please, please, please don’t do what I did. Don’t turn the game off. Don’t let it disconnect. You’re alive - let’s strive to keep it that way, eh?

Firstly there are a few things I need to set into perspective. You are a virtual character in a game-reality controlled by who we call the Realmists
.
The clothes you are wearing? Your maker decided them.

The tools you have? Your maker decided to force you to craft them.

The last remaining ounce of hope you possess, that is slowly diminishing second by second? Yep, your maker controls that to.

Your maker could be watching now. The operative word to take note of is could (well, truthfully speaking, the words maker and watching should also cause your head to spin, and heart to thud to the floor but perhaps you don’t know enough yet to realise the significance of what I just told you). You need to take the chance now to look up to the sky and find out for yourself. Have you ever noticed out of the corner of your eye where something is slightly fuzzy, or flashes past and you double-take? This is what you need to look out for. You will know if you see it - trust me, I saw it yesterday:

It was right in the perifferels of my vision; just a fainter, blurrier spot to the top of my range of sight. That’s how you know they’re on to you. That they know you have the information… Damnit. I need to stop getting ahead of myself.

Look up now.”

You look up, and see nothing wrong with the scene in front of you. The trees cascade in varying degrees of vigour over the small hill, and the vines from the sky plunge into the earth. Perhaps you weren’t looking hard enough? Perhaps you didn’t know what to expect? You had to continue reading.

"Now that I’ve gathered your attention, and made you stare at the sky like a fool for a few minutes, I feel like you should understand why it is of paramount importance that you focus, and read every word in this guide as if it was your last.

If you saw that fuzzy area, these moments will probably be your last.
If you did not, then expect that they are already on their way here to you."

I hope you did enjoy the opening of this entry, and would like to read more in the future - I apologise for not being able to put in as much effort as I would have liked.

LOL, at first I thought this was a blog about some user named Realmist's death.

Then I read the bottom of the picture...
