This blog post is me trying to satisfy my tinkering and to tell my redstone story/flailing about trying not to kill myself. I'm like one of those guys in Scrapheap Challenge (may not be aired in the US, though I'd check Youtube). I sort of throw a couple of things together (read: I chucked redstone at a piston and ran behind the obsidian wall I'd made) and I see what happens. That was when I first used redstone (I'm not counting opening doors) and with every experiment I learned a trick or a quirk of that crazy red dust:

I soon got fixed upon Pistons, especially sticky ones. I began to make secret doors and entrances to homes and after about a day, having relished my 'achievement' (yes I'll give my hat to the professional redstoners) I was bored. I wanted more. So I compacted it and made more blocks move and made a 3x3 moving door. Cool! Bored again. I slowly went back to my routine of mine, craft, eat, sleep.

Then I came to think: There must be a simpler way to extract obsidian (read: I can't be arsed to walk that far into the mine and it's dark and scary). So i got a bucket of lava, some water and....

Cobblestone?!! (ensuing rage involves death of many pigs). After I had calmed down (and made a new sword) I began to realize my next redstone challenge had reared it's efficient head. This would test my knowledge of pistons: I hadn't tried something so ambitious (read: useful) before. And the complexity, the size, the danger! I MUST TRY IT!

......Anyway that was a long time ago and now I'm up to speed with repeaters and torches and all. But the main thing is (all my posts have a point or two, so I hoped you enjoyed the ride up until here)  I. Was. Crap. But I enjoyed my trip from complete amateur to tried experimenter and I really hope anyone who is unsure of redstone out there that reads this doesn't give up and at least tries to find their own path, because the real joy of Minecraft is forging your own experience.

Okay. Storytime over. Now how the hell does Potion making work? Two pieces of equipment?! That defies nature. I refuse to participate in- It does what? I can run fast? Show me. NOW.
