Today, on this article I'm going to type about "pollution" as you saw in the title. My last article as you'll find in the link at the bottom of this page was successful which drove me to make this. Anyway let's get talking about pollution in Minecraft.

Your average Air Pollution

If there was pollution in Minecraft, I think what would cause it is torches creating smoke and any type of item that uses fossil fuels. So things that use coal or wood as a fuel (or if you make fire) should create pollution, however non-fossil fuels should create no pollution except for light pollution if it's a Redstone light or something like that. The effects caused from enough air pollution should be blindness every now-and-then also lose a heart every minute or so in severe cases. The signs of air pollution is the air turning dark and musky/dirty.

Your average Light Pollution

Now we're going to talk about "light pollution", the cause of light pollution is obviously too much light, so anything that emits any kind of light source. So almost everything in the game will cause light pollution except natural things like trees and mushrooms won't cause much light pollution making the game normal. So the more light the more pollution, what I think the effects should be in small cases you won't see as many stars as usual but in severe cases you won't even be able to see the moon. It should also effect a wider radius the more light pollution they cause.

Your average Noise Pollution

Now I'm going to type about "Noise Pollution", Noise Pollution should be cause by loud sounds as you would think. TNT and explosions or walking on high sound emitting surfaces should cause greater amounts of Noise Pollution which if it's loud enough in small cases should cause nausea (I don't know how that works but anyway...) and in severe cases deafness for short periods of times.

Land and Water Pollution

Land and Water pollution should be caused by air pollution, The signs of Land and Water pollution will be the water starts turning black and same with the ground. The effects of drinking polluted water will poison you for 30 seconds and will pollute the land around the water, If you plant things on polluted areas those things will become polluted and if you eat polluted things it poisons you for 30 seconds like drinking water. If trees are polluted it will also cause air pollution instead of cleaning the air.

To fix any type of pollution you just need to stop polluting that area for a few days.

If you have different ideas put them in the comments. Here's the link to my old article:

Ooh I would like this as a mod, definitely I would install it, but as you can see from below, most people wouldn't like this in Vanilla Minecraft. Diamond, sub and fav! :D

It's a creative idea, yes, however do we really need to complicate Minecraft that much? I think there should be a bit of a line which shouldn't be crossed in a video game, Minecraft shouldn't be THAT overly realistic imo. If it gets to that point, why bother playing the game even? Just go outside and you can experience real pollution for yourself, and better yet maybe do something about it. Video games should be able to take you away from the troubles of real life by creating a different scenario, not recreating real life itself. That's just my two cents though.

This is an interesting idea, but as Jiloacom said "it would take a long time to code" Plus above adding the pollutions, you'd have to add the anti-pollutants, like plant life that makes it better as well as some new equiptment to help protect the player; these items would consist of things like a gas mask, ear muffs, and something to protect the player's eyesight from "light pollution."

All in all this is an interesting idea but it would take ages to code, and there are just too many empty holes(plus we know how glitchy things are when mojang first adds them)

I don't like the idea. It's just another thing you have to keep up with. Plus, it would take a long time to code this I would bet. I'd rather have Mojang working on better things. Now if this was a mod I wouldn't be as negative, but it would still take forever to code.

Hmmm not a bad idea but i dont think this would really work out well unless it was a gamemode made specifically for peaceful. Not only would you have to worry about mobs, hunger, and gathering resources for yourself but now you have to worry about pollution? Yes it would be more realistic but... to realistic may be the problem. Still not a bad idea just take some of this into consideration.

Normally, noise pollution is just bothering. For the polluted ground/dirt, when you plant something it will wither because there are no nutrients to get from the soil. Diamond and fave, well done :)
