Hello again.

Once you have build a nice terrain you and just want to use it without actually building something on it there are several things you can do to make it more lively.

The first thing you add to your terrain should be tall grass and double tall grass. There should be less grass near civilisations and places that may be used from time to time. Otherwise try to keep the ratio from tall grass to double tall grass clearly on side of the normal tall grass.

After this task you can go and add some flowers to the landscape. But before you randomly add flowers think about which ones may fit your terrain. I went for all white flowers to keep the style while still having some variation and add some more variation through scattered red flowers. You can always use it in a style like this if the area does not have any specialtys that catch the focus of whomever may look at the landscape. This little detail adds a lot to the whole terrain when it is compared to only using a flower template with 1 colour.

Another method to give it more life is to scatter some tiny structures around. I made something that may resemble a little tower ruin at the top of the mountain and some mossy stones around the terrain. In general ruins and little stone/cobblestone/mossy parts are a good way to give your terrain more variation to it.

Since there will definitelly be some more used paths im nature you can always add some little pathways to the grass floor. These paths may contain a different block template depending on what exactly it should resemble. There may be a little path used by animals only so you would probably only use some coarse dirt for it. For some hunters paths or little paths used by humans in general (which I used here) you can use a template of coarse dirt, andesite and gravel. Near ruins there may be some more cobblestone/mossystone/stonebricks used in it all mixed with the blocks used in the prior examples.

Now if you do not want to add trees you can still add some more vegetation to the landscape. Some leaves or just wooden blocks surrounded by leaves can be used perfectly for this.

If you do want to add some trees to it I have another example for you.

I know most of the area around was still WIP but this is the picture before adding trees and a bit vegetation so I am sry I didnt do another nice picture here. Shoutout to Le0 for doing this, well this is on the Building Team Server so it was only natural but still cool xD

By the way the area around this still needs to be detailed and I only made the smoothing and building yet.

And just like that I changed a plain mountain area to something that seems way more alive. I hope this helps you build your own terrains and as always ask if you have any questions or something similar xD

Link to the next part.

Im also part of the DurinsBuilders Building Team and as expected focusing on smoothing all the terra there xD
