I am SICK of this.

"Don't talk to her, her skin looks like she 2."

Really? Last time I checked the lamest joke book that was on the front page.

Yes, that's right, sterotyping, it happens way too much in Minecraft.

You could say, "Oh no Metal, no it doesn't happen on the internet...people don't know what you look like or sound like!" Oh yah it does happen on the internet. You make on enemy on a server, or one bad move, and from then on when you log on people are like "Omg, don't talk to her I heard-" No, its just ridiculous.

Most people as well say "But the Internet is known for having people who are more welcoming on it, especially in Minecraft", and yes, this is true. Minecraft does have a lot more acceptance with meeting somebody online rather than irl. But there are certain people who take this on a whole new level, stereotyping.

How to spot them

It's really not hard. As soon as somebody says, "don't talk to them because bla bla bla" they either have a really bad past with that person, or stereotype them for their skin, rumors, etc.

I have been stereotyped many times. Most of my skins and such are abstract, like unnatural hair colours, unusual clothing, and so on. So when I enter a skin contest, and I'm in the 4th level, and the girl with the brown hair and flower tiara is picked rather than the girl with the rainbow hair and purple pants, I get angry. Or no, not even just girls, boys too! Boys have even more unnatural skins sometimes like minecraft mobs, video game characters, and so on, and they get "omg bro ur skin is awesome dud!!!!1111" or they get "Ew what the freak is that ugly thing on ur face...". You see what I'm saying? This generation just is full of judgemental people who cannot see the difference between individuality and trying to be somebody you're not. Even irl, "I wear these clothes cuz they're cute" or "cuz they're comfortable", most of the time thats a lie, and they just don't want to be stereotyped like the girl sitting next to you with green hair.

It happens way too much where you get judged for something you like, or whatever. Not even just what you look like/wear, if you were a girl who played video games or a guy who wore makeup you'd basically be disgraced by stereotypes. You're interests are judged as well.

This is ridiculous and needs to stop.

If any of you guys reading stereotype, please, just stop! You probably don't even know that person!

I also want to adress something while I'm here,

I have been inactive for quite a while. I'm very much thinking of quitting skinning unless a friend or something wants one. Ever since I was inactive for that really long time, I feel like I have not gotten as much support on my skins as I was getting before from you guys. I also am having troubles within irl, and I cannot skin while having those on my mind. I have also lost all inspiration for skinning, and rather than getting excited to skin, find it a bit hard. I honestly don't want to leave you guys who have supported me all the way through, but if I'm going to quit it's not only going to be for myself. I'm sorry, but I have nothing really let to put in a skin, or even begin to think of inspiration. I hope you guys understand and support this...If I don't quit, please don't leave nasty comments like "Oh she just wanted attention" or "She was just being dramatic" I'm not trying to do anything, but put down something that has been going on for almost 2 years. I know, it's been a long road, and it's hard to see a dead end.

Sorry if you just read that and you find it ruins my blog^

I hope you all liked this topic, and if you'd like to see me write a bit more on it, write a comment and write your feedback <3

That concludes this blog, I wish you all the best and hope things go in the better direction for this.

Leave a diamond, comment, subscribe, what did I forget...oh yah

And as always,

Peace ~Metalysty <3

You have a good point in saying there is stereotyping in Minecraft (and real life) but really to say someone doesn't understand a skin you happen to be wearing--never thought I would say that--is a fault of yours is irrational. Look, the problem is we're calling for everyone as a group to fix a problem initially caused by individuals. Ever heard of a spark starts a wildfire? I think you get where I'm going. We need to focus on what we, as individuals, are saying. Not what other people are doing or saying. When it comes down to it, the only thing that will ever really matter is not what someone said to you on a random minecraft server. What will matter is how you respond. The beautiful thing is: It is completely up to you. Which I guess is the problem and the solution. Anyway, I'm rambling.
I'm hoping you'll keep skinning, personally--you're really good at it. But please, please, do NOT let me influence your decision. Planetminecraft is a lot more than just skinning. It doesn't matter how many diamonds, or even views you get on something you do. Talking from experience, diamonds shine much brighter on things that you actually wanted to do and took pride in creating.
Ignoring everything said above, I hope you get out of whatever you are dealing with. You have friends! A whole big list of them! Anyone who says otherwise, you can just mark off the list. You aren't a bad person.

Thanks for sharing your opinion ^.^ I do agree in the sense that you shouldn't care what others think, and thanks for your support on my statement about quitting. The thing is, skinning isn't something I really take interest to anymore. It isn't as fun as it used to be for me, the only reason I kept doing it was for the sake of my supporters and the people who like my skins...The thing is, how I said before, I feel like most of my supporters aren't really there all the time. So if I'm skinning for the sake of them, when they're not even there, then I don't understand what I'm doing. Sorry to sound a little selfish, I couldn't really find a good way to put it...Anyways, I've thought it over and I really don't want to, but this is a big descision.

Sorry, got completely off blog topic with that. If we all focused on what were saying, then there probably wouldn't be stereotyping, and people would have manners. But, you cannot count on that sadly xD There will always be people who judge you, stereotype you, etc, and not think about what they're saying, and I agree immensely when you are put in that position of being stereotyped, you have to think before reacting.

Expect this kind of stuff on huge networks and minigame servers.

Sounds like you're just getting salty because someone else's skin got higher place than you with a few extra, spicy compliments. Maybe because a girl with brown hair and a flower headband or whatever was drawn better than your skins, or maybe it's more normal to see people with natural hair colour. I've had a check of your skins and really, they're not abstract...They just come under the "Teen Skin" label. I explained in the past that it all comes down to how people see the skin, if they see it as a teen skin then i can understand why they say it sucks. Sure it's your drawing but in the end of the day everyone else sees it as the same hairstyled, same clothing teen skin.

"This generation just is full of judgemental people who cannot see the difference between individuality and trying to be somebody you're not."
""This generation just is full of judgemental people"
"This generation"

Well you can't really say that because i'm pretty sure back when rock&roll was a thing there were people being judgemental of those who liked the music or whatever was popular at the time because it was seen as different.
Please don't weaponise the idea of Stereotypes on your petty, virtual, minecraft skins because this isn't  Stereotyping at all, infact i question why you even get mad over comments over the internet in the first place, When i see a bad comment i just laugh because that's what i wanted, just ignore the childish comments or better yet, disable comments so you wont get over-triggered and instead ask for constructive critisism in the form of a personal message.

It gets to a point where it starts to get on my nerves when normality is picked over something different. You are right, not all of my skins are indeed abstract, but the ones I actually choose to wear are. As a skin designer, seing something basic and seen on almost every skin, doesn't make me like their skin. What makes me like somebody's skin, is something different, out of the ordinary. When I talk about stereotyping, I'm not talking about it on PMC. I honestly don't even know if that happens on here. I'm talking about in-game play when you're having fun with your friends then somebody has to judge you for all stated above. It bothers me because once you loose, to that same skin, over, and over, it gets to a point of ridiculousness.

Winners of skin contests will almost always be emo/gamer girl skins. Sorry, but it's the truth. :/
