Hey guys! This is my story of how Steve got to where he is. It's told from a first-person perspective.

Enjoy! (Don't forget to diamond; it helps.)

It was an ordinary day for me. The weekend had just started, I’d finished work and all, and I was going out to hang with my friends at the pig races. They seemed to love the races, but I could honestly care less. I mean, really? Pigs racing… Could it get any worse? We all went over to the races and watched the pigs race around the track for an hour. I would rather be at home tending to my garden than doing this, but I didn’t want to upset my friends. I didn’t even pay attention to the race, but I was oddly focused on some Ender-Men acting strange in the distance. They weren’t acting normally; they almost seemed, violent

After the races, my friends and I went over to the bar to get a few drinks. Of course, I paid, as always. My friends always had a game of rock-paper-scissors to determine who paid for the drinks, and apparently I could never win. It had crossed my mind that Jack had been cheating all this time, but money isn’t a problem for me, so I just brushed it off. It’s not like I’d ever make a scene over a couple of drinks, anyways. After everyone was finished, I walked home alone, as usual. I was pretty exhausted from work, the races, etc. I got ready for bed, and the second my face hit my pillow, I was instantly immersed in a deep sleep.

I woke up the next day exhausted. “I didn’t stay out that late, did I?” I muttered to myself. I called Marie on my cell-phone to see if she was doing anything today. Oddly, it went to voicemail. I just assumed she was asleep; after all, it was the weekend. I decided to call Jack instead. Again, it rang out, until it eventually went to voicemail. “Jack’s a morning person, he never sleeps in…” I thought to myself. I decided to walk over to his house. The lights were out. “Is he even home?” I thought to myself, while walking towards the door. I knocked three times. “Hello? Is anybody here?” I shouted. I twisted the doorknob. “It’s unlocked?” I thought to myself. Jack never leaves his door unlocked; he’s one of those people who are paranoid about intruders. I peeked cautiously inside. It seemed nobody was there. I slowly stepped inside. “Jack?” I shouted. “Are you here?”

It seemed nobody was inside. I recalled that on my walk I didn’t seem to see anybody outside as usual, it was empty, just like Jack’s house. “Jack, are you here?” I shouted one last time. Instantly I was knocked over by the door. I’m lying on the floor; it took a small impact on my head. Jack is standing over my head. “Steve?” He said, a bit exhaustedly. “Where have you been? I’ve been looking all over for you!” He said. “Is Marie at her house?” I said, recovering from the blow. “I couldn’t find her… I was getting a bit worried because I couldn’t find you either.” He said, a bit strangely. “Where is everyone?” I said, worriedly. “You don’t know what’s going on?” He asked, strangely. “There’s been an outbreak… A virus of some sort, I think?” He said shakily.  “Just wait until you see downtown!”

Jack and I rushed downtown. “What the hell?” I muttered to myself. I could see everything now. It was total chaos. Mutilated bodies lie all over the street, and creatures were attacking other creatures. “I thought creepers were friendly creatures, what the hell?” I said to Jack. I saw undead bodies walking, and human skeletons being re-animated. I was terrified. “Is that one heading our direction?” I asked Jack. “Uh… I think so… We better run.” He replied, breaking into a sprint. I followed closely behind. “Where will we go? More importantly, where’s Marie?” I asked, shouting to Jack as we ran. “I think the best place to go is the forest.” Jack shouted back, ignoring my other question. I hesitated a bit, slowing down, but as I turned around I could see an Ender-Man gaining on us. I stared deeply into its eyes for a split second. What I saw was pure evil. I sped up; I would rather not be torn apart. “This is crazy… Ender-Men… Being this hostile? This is absurd!” I muttered to myself.

Jack and I reached the outskirts of town. The Ender-Man was persistent in catching us… I didn’t want to think about what he would do to us if he did. We were coming up to a corner, which I knew could lose the blood-thirsty creature. Jack and I swiftly exchanged thoughts with a quick look, and we turned the corner. We quickly hid behind a small tree, just as the Ender-Man passed by. “I think we lost him…” Jack whispered. After a few minutes Jack and I sprinted into the forest, as fast as we possibly could. After miles of running, we finally reached a place we both thought was safe enough to camp. As night approached, we made a fire, not too big, as it would attract creatures, but just enough to keep us warm.

“What the hell is going on?” I asked Jack, a bit angrily. “Where’s Marie?” Jack frowned. “Steve… Marie is dead.” I was instantly overwhelmed with feelings. I’d known Jack and Marie since we were children. “What? How did this happen?” I asked Jack, shouting. “Calm down. You’ll attract creatures.” Jack whispered. “How can I be calm? Marie is dead!” I said, as I shed a tear. “I went to her house, this morning, and found her being ripped apart by multiple undead humans.” Jack said, with the strangest face I’d ever seen him make. Jack lied down. “Jack?” I was crying un-controllably now. “I’m- I’m going to sleep.” Jack said, his voice cracking a bit. I realized I was exhausted. I curled up on the floor, my mind racing with thoughts. “This- This can’t be real…” I mumbled to myself.

I was awoken with a blood-curdling scream. “Jack?” I mumbled. I looked up groggily, and saw Jack being held up in the sky by an Ender-Man. “Jack!” I shouted. “Steve, it’s found us… Run!” He was instantly torn apart by the terrifying creature. I ran as fast as I could. I don’t know how far behind the Ender-Man was, but I didn’t care. I cried as I ran, uncontrollably. My vision was impaired by the tears… I don’t know what happened next. All I remember is hitting something with my head, and falling for what seemed like forever… All the sudden I blacked out. I had been knocked unconscious.

I woke up, my head throbbing. It felt like someone had dropped an anvil on me. “Where am I?” I said to myself, holding my head from the excruciating pain. I scouted my surroundings; it seemed that I had fallen into a cave of some sort. I tried to remember what happened, but it just hurt my head more. “Do I have amnesia?” I muttered to myself. I couldn’t remember anything that had happened before, so it was a safe guess to assume so. I couldn’t remember anything, but I was pretty sure that my name- was Steve.
