He stood there silently, feeling misplaced in the strange reality that he was in. “Is this heaven?” I asked him, to which he responded in the negative. “What is this place?” I asked him, still confused as to where this place was, or even what it was. “This place is in a way a giant metaphor, here is my hallway, and connected to it are rooms.” he said, walking through the transparent hallway. “Each hallway is a life, some are still being built. They all connect to the main hallway, the hallway of humanity. They connect to other hallways with rooms, which represent experiences and achievements.”

“My life is this hallway, these are my achievements, along with major events that have happened to me.” he said, pointing to the hallway we were in. “How’d I get here?” I asked him, still confused as to where this was. “I don’t know. I don’t know why any of us are here, all I know is that we exist, whether for a reason or not. But there is a taquito stand down the hallway.” he said, seemingly eager to try out the items which the stand had.

“Your hallway connects to mine with this room.” he said, pointing to the minecraft-related images on the walls. “So are you going to stay here?” I asked him, opening the door below the image of a minecraft map. “I might as well show you how this place works.” he said, leading me through the room and out the opposite end. We walked into my hallway, which was filled with my achievements and major events hung on the walls.

“These are events, achievements, both acknowledged ones,” he said, pointing to a few trophies and certificates I had earned, “and those that either you or they don’t acknowledge. If you want to filter out things, just think about what you want to see.” As he said that, I made only my Minecraft experiences stay on the walls.

“What’s that?” he asked, pointing to the beginning of the hallway. “That’s minecraft classic, my brother showed me that.” I said, walking to the image hung on the wall. “It’s what got me into minecraft.”. “I remember classic, it didn’t interest me very much. And what about that?” he asked, pointing to a wall displaying a baby zombie with a shovel. I groaned, ”I found this place called PMC, and I wanted to post something on it. So I posted my experience with a shovel-wielding zombie midget. It was pretty much crap, I’ve already deleted the thing.”.

“I thought you were a map-maker.” he said, getting a bit confused over all the skins and texture packs just ahead of me. “I am. Just that back then I didn’t know about maps, my bro was also doing texture packs so I decided to give it a try. I eventually figured out that skins and texture packs weren’t for me, but I gained some pixel-art skill. Well, I don’t actually know if I’m skilled or not, but I’m going with the humble option. I’m not very good, but not bad.” “Before commands I also did a bit of pixel-art. Wasn’t great, but didn't suck either.” He mentioned, beginning to take interest in my hallway.

He walked a bit further down the hall, stopping before an image of the words RUN spelled out in glowstone. “You didn’t tell me about . . .” he began, but was interrupted by me. “After the pixel art I found Minecraft Maps. I started downloading and playing maps on it. I didn’t make that map. Whacknut did. That series blew my mind at the time, it had a decent story and custom potions. The guy named stuff in a strange way, like a tripwire hook would be called hammer and had knockback effects. It inspired me to make a map, I wanted to be like him.”

“So that’s why you name stuff like that too.” he said,”like that redstone torch in Sheep Factory was called a match.”. “Yup. Sheep Factory was my first completed map; it got a decent amount of attention. Turns out 3 small youtubers did a lets play of it.” I told him, walking to the image of Sheep Factory. “I’m still working with one of those guys, Travi5, he’s currently playing one of my maps.”. “So is that why you play minecraft?” he asked me, to which I said “Whacknut inspired me to do what I do today; I make maps. That’s why I play minecraft, it’s what makes me a minecrafter. Thanks to minecraft I’ve been able to tell my story with maps and find other people. In a strange way, it’s also how I contribute to the community.”.

“Maps?” he asked. “Not just my maps, a story. It’s a story I tell with my maps, it still isn’t done, but it’s an intricate one, so it’ll take more time to tell.” I said, walking back to the beginning of the hallway. “Sheep Factory was the start, at first I didn’t expect to do anything with it, but because of that map, and support from others I wouldn’t have done any of the other maps. Thanks to my maps in turn, I’ve met 4 small youtubers, you, and Forto, whom I make textures for.” I said.

“So that’s your story.” he said, walking to the end of the hallway with me. I walked from my hallway into a larger hallway, the hallway of humanity. As I walked out of my own hallway I looked back, noticing that he was not coming with me. He stood there, looking back at my hallway, as if in a trance. “There’s plenty of stories like mine,” I said, continuing to walk on, ”Let’s go see some other more interesting hallway.”. He turned to me and said,” It doesn’t make it any less better.”. I stopped, turning to him and asked him,”Do you really think this story is any special, any bit interesting?”. “It’s still a story. You’re still a person. And this is still a hallway.” he said, finally walking towards me. We continued walking down the hallway, there was a taquito stand waiting for us.

. . .

PiCookie/Chorse woke up, looking around at his surroundings. He looked at his screen, there were two words typed into the google document; Wake up. He erased the words, still unsure what he should write. He still had two whole weeks to create a story of sorts about his own life. He didn’t feel it was a very special one, but he didn’t mind telling it. He looked at his screen, he had looked at his competition, all they had done was tell their stories. They were in fact very well told, there was no way he had a chance of winning. It was then that he got an idea; what if he told his story in a different way, rather than simply saying it. It was then that he got the inspiration, typing out that which you are reading. It may not have been a unique story, but it was still a story, it was still as good, and it deserved a chance to be told.

The Beginning.

Everything in red isn't part of the story, just wanted to explain a bit of the story. First of all I included links to other people in the story, sorry if it felt like a huge ad because of that, but I felt some of the guys wouldn't be recognizable without the links. Everyone knows CaptainSparkelz, but not Whacknut or Travi5. I included a link to my art blog, simply to show you what I can do. However, it sounds like an ad doesn't it? Sorry judges. :( The word count is at 1195 for the above in case you are wondering. If you were wondering, I did take my inspiration from a dream, but it didn't happen like the above. The hallways represent a life as is explained, each room has multiple connections to other lives, like an event. Going to the park puts you into contact with other people, in this metaphor that room connects to other hallways. It's a bit hard to understand, but you'll get it eventually.

Also, I referenced Herobrine and I wrote The Beginning instead of The End.
