This is an Idea of mine, I don't expect it to be added in any way but it would be nice if we had one.

Hey guys, I'm writing this blog to propose my idea for a Minecraft trade and market site. The site would be similar to backpack.tf in many ways (check out the site). If you know nothing on backpack.tf I'll give you a summary. It is a website that displays the prices of items in the Team Fortress 2 economy. How does this relate to minecraft? Well out of all of the servers that I have been to with their wild economy and no sense of value or common order it would be nice to have a website that woud show relative values of items and what items can be traded for fairly. Now I know that Minecraft does not have an inventory system like TF2 but let me give you an example, one server that I played on let you trade 10 dirt for 5 emeralds. What the hell. So I think it would be nice to have a site that would be able to tell you that 10 dirt can be traded for 1 rotten flesh or 3 gravel or 5 wood etc. If you see what I mean, it would help servers establish a healthy and fair economy without all of the pandaemonium of stupid unfair item trades. The site would also be useful for the posting of servers. People could post their server on the website and the servers could say that they have a healthy and fair economy in the fact that they are linked to the website that supplies accurate prices of minecraft items. So if you think a website like that would be really nice let me know. Also, tell me what you think of the blog.

I like the idea. Although it would be very very hard to do and I don't see it happening :/

There would need to be a way to link the website to the servers through a plugin so that the prices update automatically, which would mean that sign shops would need to have their signs updated automatically.

i would have agreed on this, but i just find the mystery of not knowing the price of stuff, fun..
if you go on a server a diamond could be worth 4 gold bars, and on another server it might be worth 10! (im speaking of faction servers right now) and i find it better that nobody knows how much something cost that knowing so, and since nobody knows the real price of a item, nobody would in any way manage to scam anyone, cause nobody knows the exact price of anything.

Good point, I'm one of those people that like a system. It's not for everyone.

Interesting idea. This would be a big help to servers who don't know how to balance their economies.

Once, a very long time ago, I was on a server that allowed you to sell cobblestone. This wouldn't have been a problem, except that 1 stack of cobblestone could be sold for a diamond. Naturally, most people didn't bother looking for diamonds and instead dug massive pits for cobblestone. They eventually fixed it, but the damage had already been done.
