Woah, Blu, why are you ranting about the holidays? They're a good thing! Yeah, sure, but what the heck happened with the guys mind that though up "Woah, Jesus coming back means... Yellow marshmallows, eggs, and bunnies!" Okay, seriously?! Looking for eggs with candy inside is really, really religious. Come one, how does a holy spirit get translated into this crap?!

Plus, why does the world even do this? Hunting for hidden eggs isn't a tradition, no family would have been that random. Even some CHURCHES do this crap! I though Easter was to "welcome back our savior!" and "he's alive again!" Next, how did rabbits start to lay eggs? This is creepy, if you let those eggs hatch, we'll have a giant supply of tiny bunnies. BEWARE.

Next is the one I still don't get, but celebrate. Every year we spend millions of dollars on sugar that will make us fat. Yes, and we give it out to kids dressed in costumes. Wow. I shake my head and shun those who thought this was a "tradition". Our ancestors would die laughing, or be completely disgusted.

Halloween is a total disaster, loading our kids with sugar and fat, while we all say "eat healthy!" That is some total BS right there. Hypocrites, they are. Halloween came from the 'belief' that monsters and evil spirits were roaming on that one day, cause you know, they troll on that ONE day. People carved vegetables in scary faces to scare them away, and food out for the goblins to eat. Well, people are REALLY dumb, cause apparently there are still ghost trolls and goblins.

Finally, we get to our FAVORITE holiday, Christmas, probably the most commercial and inaccurate holiday there is. The first one, is that it is in December. The shepherds wouldn't have been outside in the middle of winter, nor would they have had sheep out. Second, there was no real 'present giving' during that time, it's the birth of Jesus! Instead, we've converted it to a present-buying bonanza, where millions of dollars are spent on everything NOT Christian.

I shake my head at these 'traditions'. But anyhow, have a Happy Easter, Merry Chirstmas, and a Happy Halloween (even though it's supposed to be scary as hell (get it?)). This has been a rant on absurd holidays, by Beastlyblu. Thanks for reading!

I definitely agree that a secular Easter is pointless.

Easter originally was a pagan solstice festival of fertility prior to the death and rebirth of Christ. The fact that he died around the same time was probably a coincidence. Now for the rabbits and eggs, hares therefore rabbits were animals representing fertility. Eggs used to represent birth. The whole Rabbit laying eggs (before everything was chocolate) was something introduced by German settlers to the US to increase popularity amongst the children. Chocolate was just corporate marketing.

As for the church deciding to make this already pre-existing holiday about the death and rebirth of Jesus Christ, well that was simply a way to convert pagans to Christianity.

Someone's probably already mentioned these things. I haven't looked at all the comments lol

if you wrote about what Christmas came from it would help even more to this blog, it was not originally the birth of Jesus or whatever it is, if was a fest in Greece when people would get drunk and party then leave out gifts for the gods.

There isn't a religious tie between Easter and egg-hunts. There was never supposed to be. Easter is a religious holiday, not egg-hunting. They're two separate things. Hence, no Easter eggs in church, or Easter bunny (though the church does sometimes support celebrations like this, they don't endorse them during service time).

I agree with this but it is also fun to have these traditions. We should not veer away from the real purpose of Easter but as I said some traditions are fun. I fully support you but there is nothing wrong with some traditions

It is not the religious side of Easter which Prompts you to eat chocolate and have strange coloured everything, rather it is what originally happened close to this time of year, the welcoming of spring by the druids and pagans of Europe. This is similar to the celebration of Christmas, which is inaccurate to Christs birth, yet was amalgamated with the Winter Solstice, a pagan festival. Just because its name is specifically Christian, that does not mean what is celebrated under it is.
