These are 8 tips on how to make a successful, popular RP. If you have any to add, PM me.

1) Don't make it original-
I know, I know, it seems like a weird one to put on here. However, think of it like this. If it is super original, something few or no people have done before, the poor role-players will be clueless as to how to move the story forward when the creator is offline. HOWEVER, I wouldn't make something completely unoriginal, like a school RP unless you are committed to helping it move forward and adding something unique. So, add something quirky, not NEW or MAINSTREAM. CREDIT: CLUE

2) Don't put too much weight on yourself for the RP to go forward-
I should probably explain this one a little. If you are the master of a Role Play, don't make it so that the only way to move the plot forward is for you to be online. An example: bn, a great Role Player, and Role Play master, created a brilliant RP, Elemental School. It recently ended, because he said it was 'too much on him,' meaning the RP was never going to move forward without him online. CREDIT: bnrdhdu

3) Don't be afraid to kick/ban players from posting!
This one is a problem in many I have read through or been a part of. You've always got a select few Role Players who are just annoying trolls. I love to troll, so this is not against trolls, it's just I troll people who set my teeth on edge. These people do it simply to waste and ruin your RP. Maybe give someone a chance, but after that, simply ban them from posting.

4) Keep checking those Applications!
A lot of the time, I have seen many people come on to the RP thread fed up that the applications have been ignored. The most likely reason: The RP is well underway, and you've forgotten that people can still apply. However, if you keep checking them, more people will think "Hey! The applications are STILL being checked! Let's try!" However, make sure that you are able to summarise what has happened in the RP so far, otherwise they might pack their bags and leave.

5) Have a good backstory to begin with
If you have a really good idea for a Role Play, make sure that you explain and think it out, and explain it well in the first post, the application post. Otherwise, someone will be surfing through, and they'll be thinking "What the hey is this guy saying?" And it'll just fail.

6) Make friends beforehand!
This is a really good idea. Before making an RP, play on other people's. If you frequently go on their RP's, and the other people from their RP's go there, you get to know people, and they'll keep an eye out for your stuff. Then, when the time comes and you decide to make an RP, you will have loads of people willing to check it out! CREDIT: Brink_

7) Don't be fussy!
I don't understand the problem with using first person instead of third. If that's the way someone finds it easier to RP, the way I do sometimes, let them. It's as simple as that. If you do have a problem with it, include in your rules first person only.

8) Have a story to move forward with!
A Role Play will become mega pointless if you do not have something to move the story with, and all it will be is regular, dull conversation, and then the RPers will take it into their own hands and then an out-of-control drama will occur.

  • Actually if an out of hand drama occurs a role play can become more interesting sometimes.

Yes, but then it's still pointless and eventually you completely go astray of the plot.

I don't quite understand what you are saying, but what I am saying as that when the RP master isn't on, people make too much drama, example, Robert is Elemental School Lost his memory twice, tried to commit suicide three times, etc.

Aww, thanks. That means a lot, the things you say about me. And it was true, I did put to much on myself in ES.

Well, I am not one to say things just to say it. I know it sounds stupid coming from a 13 year old but when someone has something good, I'll mean it when I say it. When someone has something brilliant, I'll follow it as much as I can, as I am with ES or whatever you will call it when the time comes.

You said something to me, but I do remember it sparked something off. It was in the Most Popular RP? Thread.

Oh yes, that. I said 9/10 of the times, completely original RPs fail.
