Too many PVP servers

Okay, this is almost (but not quite) a rant on all the clone servers out there. how many times have you been looking for a server only to see nothing but an endless horde of: "PVP FACTIONS ECONOMY NO LAG BEST SERVER EVER LOTSA PLUGINS OVER 9000% UPTIME FRIENDLY STAFF..." etc.
I am, honestly, quite tired of this. I know that you may spend a lot of time creating and maintaining your server, but wouldn't that effort be better spent creting something original instead of just another server to add to the mound? I think that one solution to this would be to create another server type: the current options are creative, survival, and other. I think that PVP should be added to the mix. A factions PVP server is very different from a community non-pvp survival server; the difference can even be more vast than the difference between a survival and a creative server. I think, therefore, that PVP should have its own section. this would allow people looking for a survival server to remove all the PVP servers from view, and the PVP'ers could get the maximum number of PVP servers per page. (no non-pvp's, no matter how rare.)
An example of what I mean:
Be sure to comment with your opinion, whether it be similar to this or dead opposite. I want to hear all sides of this debate, so hopefully we can help clean up PMC! (Not only that, but I want to hear the general opinion on this topic, just out of my own curiosity.)

I agree... its kind of annoying to go down the list of servers and seeing so many that are exactly the same old thing-- all with only 1 or 2 players on them.

Our team actually works extremely hard offering all Minecraft has to offer. Our Craftbukkit server has survival/creative and adventure, and a Skyblock world all in one. We also recently started venturing into the world of modded servers. We just recently launched a server based on the Pixelmon (Pokemon) mod to create an online Pokemon MMO of sorts.

Sorry to hear about your dissatisfaction (with Livecraft). I'll look into getting a survival world by default, with a separate PVP world in the near future. The problem is, when we were pure survival, everyone left or begged for creative.

From the server owner's standpoint, survival just isn't popular anymore. The PVP servers are killing the survival ones and in order to stay online, I had to make it PVP in order to keep my users. Yes, this change made a lot of users upset (such as you), but I can't switch again for a while. I will try to add a survival mode, but I simply can't go pure survival or nobody joins.

I recall when I would update my server's post on Planet Minecraft, and everyone would flood either asking for creative or if PVP was allowed. When I told them it was survival, a good majority said it sucked and left. The few who stayed left in the following week.

Basically, all server owners are being "forced" into it. Without PVP, the popularity of the server drops exponentially. I honestly would love to make it back into a survival server, but I can't.

So what if the server isn't as huge anymore? All that means is less lag, less wear on the server, and fewer people clogging up the chat. Being big is nice, but is it always better? The overall culture of the whole server has taken a decline ever since you made the switch - people are less friendly, you have to worry about your house being greifed every time you get on (yes, even Peaceful factions like mine can still be greifed by a well-placed creeper or TNT cannon,) and you can never, ever trust a TPA anymore.

Now, I'm not saying you should be Survival simply to be different, but do you really want to follow the crowd just so you can claim that "I have so many visitors on my server, I don't even know half of them"? With the recent influx of PvP server clones, people like me are having a hard time finding a refuge. If all of the PvP-hungry greifers are busy blowing stuff up on the army of clone RPG servers, then that leaves the thoughtful, creative, helpful people to play on the few remaining. If they don't have anywhere to go, they'll take anything they can get (I know I will.)

I understand that this is your server, and you have every right to do whatever you want with it, but please, don't ruin what used to be my go-to server.

I know what you mean but if someone griefs a peaceful faction, they can be banned and it will be rolled back. I'm also going to add a faction-free world for survival-loving players. No PVP in this world at all.

I do agree that only owners who are willing to use decent grammer, be nice to players and do something that stands out from the crowd (So it's not indeed, a bunch of clones) should bother posting; Well spamming... there server on the wrong sections of server halls and forums!

What servers are you talking about?

I currently use The Creeper Cartel (because my old favorite server has turned into yet another clone PvP server.) I haven't found a single other good server. ;(

I really want more RPG servers, including Towny ;_;

In my experience, every page of servers on any server list, ever, has at least 100 (if not over 9000) Towny RPG PvP servers on it. I don't really see why you're having trouble finding one, unless your monitor has a large defect blocking out most of the screen.

This happen on every MC community site. USA, Brazil, Canada, Russia, Japan ... Many players don't play on server 'cause of this. On a PVP server, if you get a little far of the spawn, you'll get killed. ):

Yep. That's why having open PvP instantly disqualifies a server for me.
