Over the past few months, Tekkit has been getting more popular, mainly thanks to the Yogscast o Leto s Playo Series of it. I have been playing Tekkit for over a year now, and I love it. While it does take a certain element of simplicity away from Minecraft, I think it is definitely worth a shot.

What exactly is Tekkit?

I have talked to tons of people who think they know the answer, but many are far from correct.

If you think Tekkit is o Machines in Minecraft, durrro you are a stranger to the truth, my friend.

Yes, Tekkit does add machines to Minecraft, but it adds a lot more. Tekkit adds machines that will condense ores into dust, macerate them into bars, advanced furnaces, and quarries (This machine will mine a large area for you). However, ito s not that simple. All of these machines need power. How you go about getting this power is your choice. Personally, I like to use Solar Power and Water Pumps. There are tons of other choices though too! You can make wind turbines, nuclear reactors, oil pumps, and more! There are also accessories like JetPacks, Lasers, and Pipes for items to be transferred.

I'd love to go into detail, but I'll explain another aspect of Tekkit now: Magic. That's right, in Tekkit you can make special items, that will create diamonds out of other items, using magical power called EMC. You can make collectors that absorb energy from the world, creating power non-stop, and much more. This also adds magical rings, which have special abilities, from flying to shooting lightning, it's incredible!

Not only does Tekkit add all this, but it even adds another mod called redpower. Redpower adds tons of extra machines, I'm not very advanced in it, but I know one thing about it. It also adds a saw, which you can use to cut any block into half slabs, pillars, half-half slabs, and almost every small block you can think of. I have gotten 4 times better at building thanks to these amazing blocks.

Finally, Railcraft. Railcraft is an awesome mod that adds 30 new types of tracks. There are launcher, ejectors, 4 way paths, and tons more. There are blocks that make it so easy to control them too, but I'm just a novice in Railcraft, so I won't be distributing false information.

If anything interests you, you can check the Tekkit Wiki, for more information, or I highly recommend YogscastLalna (Duncan) tutorials.

Why should I try Tekkit?

You, my friend, should at least give tekkit a shot because it adds something for everyone. If you read the last paragraph, you would see that whether you're a builder, engineer, wizard, or some weird monkey-man, there will be something in tekkit for you.

I was nervous about trying tekkit, but the more you play, the more fun it gets.

What is your favorite part of Tekkit?

A tough question, but it would have to be tied between two things. I love that in redpower, you have all those small blocks, it is awesome, you can build so much! I also love Railcraft, even though I am just a noob in it. I have been trying it, and it is incredible fun!

Closing

No matter who you are, I recommend at least trying Tekkit. It adds tons of fun, and even if you like simplicity, you don't have to do all the machines. You could use it for building only, or just for the sake of testing things. I don't think anyone would regret trying Tekkit.

I actually had to much data for my MC to work so i deleted minecraft and the .jar file. Then I downloaded minecraft and tekkit and then it worked. It was kinda weird but it worked so i was ok with it.

I'm not entirely sure, I would recommend looking up tutorials or going to a tekkit forum. Perhaps try re-downloading it, with a step by step tutorial? Texture packs could be causing problems, or maybe your computer simply can't support it. All these are possible problems.

Eh, mods like Tekkit really down my gameplay. I don't really like modpacks that take away the survival aspect and make things complex. Yes I've tried it and watched them yogtorials, but it's still too distant from actual vanilla gameplay to feel enjoyable. Inb4 everyone here gathers hate upon me for my opinion.

Great blog though, it really does promote it for those that are curious about it.

Well, I did mention this "simplicity" aspect in my blog, as I', sure you noticed.

Yes, I agree that tekkit does take away that, and it really depends on who you are. Personally, I like the infinite simple possibilities of vanilla, but I love the countless challenges Tekkit brings to me.

i am not a strict Tekkit-er, I still love to play vanilla sometimes, but i respect your opinion, and thank you for expressing it in a mature way, and I don't see why you'd get any hate for it.

And thanks for the awesome comment, and for liking the blog!

Everyone has their tastes, and it's good to see Tekkit has brought more people into playing Minecraft overall though :D

And no problem!
