A simple question with not a not so simple answer. While many have said that no video games are not art and many more agree, it is still hard to say. While you can look at art as something that progresses and makes a statement about something then yes video games are art. There are plenty of statements to be made within the games we play. Hidden messages and story morals. But the other argument is that it's end product was not meant to be art therefor it is not art. But wait a moment there have been plenty of things in the art world that were never meant to be art but when they were questioned as such they were made into art. Well it's not art, because I don't play it to be moved and to question life i play it to relax, it's entertainment. But isn't film the same? Isn't it too art? And while someone would relax in from of a calm ocean or an open field, when capture with a camera or painted on canvas it becomes art. So I suppose the true question is what is art? What makes something defined as art? Is it the fact that it hangs on the wall? Or is displayed in a gallery? Or is it all in the eye of the beholder? What do you think?
