1080 and a bad CPU - help!
Here's the rundown: about half a year ago I was surprised with a gtx 1080. All was great, it works fine until I realised I'm barley using 40% of its load and that my friend with a 1070 was getting better frames than me (oops). My PC is currently an fx6300, not over clocked, 8gb patriot signature ram and an AM3+ MOBO. It was great when I had a R7360, but since the power boost it's not reaching its optimum performance.
Mind, I'm not complaining too much, I can get over 200 FPS on Minecraft, and 60 on BF1 (on ultra).
However, I am wondering what parts I could add or swap out to get better proformance and use my GPU to its full potential.
Thanks, Scott.

Get an i7 that combined with a 1080 is GUARANTEED TO NOT BOTTLENECK

Easy as 1, 2, 3
1. Wait for Ryzen
2. Sell mobo and cpu
3. Buy Ryzen (assuming its actually good if not buy a i7 or i5 7th gen)

Why 7th gen? The performance difference is nothing. Only about 3 fps difference in some games and in other games the difference is nothing.

An FX 8300 or 8350 will give you a performance boost, not a big one tho. That will work for a while, sell your 6300, then get the 8300. I would recommend getting an i5 in the future tho.

A new CPU will definitely help. An i5 from within the last couple of generations will work and you will get better performance. If you can wait for Ryzen, previously known as Zen, then wait, then we can see if AMD deploys what they are promising and see if Ryzen is better, or see if they disappoint like they have in the past. Ryzen should hopefully be released hopefully in the first half of this year.

An i5 won't go in a AM3+ MOBO, I'm looking to change a part or two, not a rebuild
