How do I access the default sound effects for 1.11? I opened the JAR file for 1.11 but I couldn't find the folder. I wanted to change some around for my resource pack.

The Vindicator has the idle sounds called idle1, idle2, idle3 ect. and the zombie's is say1, say2, say3. Making sure you got that. You will not get to use all the death and idle sounds from the Vindicator because it has more variations than the zombie.

Here are the sounds. http://www.mediafire.com/file/c9gy6w91syvck79/vindication_illager.zip

You rock bruh! thx.
EDIT: btw, is the required folder name for SFX for mobs known as "Entity" or still known as "Mobs"?

I honestly don't know, I would test both out and see which works.

I tried both, perhaps the sound file names need to be different? (Ex: Zombie_Idle1 instead of Idle1?)

I take back what I had said, I though you were talking about the Vindicator's file directory. The zombie's should be assets\minecraft\sounds\mob\zombie.
1
Alright so the directory's correct but the file names are likely incorrect now, as nothing happened.

I needed to extract sound effects myself, so I wrote this PHP script for extracting them. If you know how to use command line and PHP, you'll be fine
I hope it helped you.

Well you would then go into the sounds folder in your resource pack and find the zombie sounds. Take the Evoker's sounds and rename them into the Zombie Pigman's sound names (for example. renaming prepare_attack1 into zpigangry1).

How to I convert them to OGG? I just tried an online converter, it couldn't support the file type.

They're already in OGG.

I tried this one and it worked. http://audio.online-convert.com/convert-to-ogg

It's giving me an error message. :/
do you happen to have the files on hand?

If you go to C:\Users\[youraccountname]\AppData\Roaming\.minecraft\assets\objects you will find the sounds. To find a sound in particular, click the link first.
http://www.jsoneditoronline.org/?id=a99fbcecfd4b81d95480b1335ad9d84a It will take you to an online JSON code I have converted from the .minecraft files to online so that it is actually readable.
Click the left side, then press CTRL+F to bring up the search. You then type in the sound you would like to find. For example, I would type in "stray" and it will find it. Click the ^ or V buttons to scroll through the different search results. Once you have found the sound, copy the hash. Then go back to the "objects" window and paste what you have copied into the search bar. When it is done searching and it has found the file, there is the sound you are looking for. You can right click it and open it with VLC if you would like to hear it.
But if you actually want to have a .ogg copy of it, copy the sound file and paste it onto your desktop. You would then go to some online .ogg converter and upload it there to have it converted. Respond if you manage to get stuck, yeah it's not very easy as it used to be.

I got up to the search part, but I can't figure out how to replace all of zombie's SFX with all of Vindicator's SFX and Z.Pigman's angry SFX with Evoker's "prepare" SFX

Google it!
The sounds have been hashed (a way of encrypting)
There should be a reference file (a text file) that has all the minecraft sounds and their file names. This way you can look up which is which.
