Another PMC Rant about ADS

Lets just say too many ads to start this off. The amount of ads on both computer and mobile version are incredible. PC version there aren't as many annoyances as when you go to the forums and suddenly you get taken to the app store. Minimize on your ads. You already have enough money to hunker down and use donations. Trust me you guys will get plenty. If you are going to advertise then get this. USER submitted ads in the sense that they won't be pop ups but just banners like the hammercraft ads.

Since this is getting to the point of attacking people and the moderation team we will go ahead and close this. If an advert is inappropriate report it to Paril so it can be removed by the ad company. If you do not like ads there are options for you personally to not have to see them, but know that you are not supporting the site by doing so and in fact Paril and Cyprezz, along with the site rely on this income as their main/only income (to my knowledge). I personally would rather see ads than "Donate pls or we will have to close" all over the site.

You know what PlunderPixels, I thought about it and your right. Your 100% right. Ads should be removed from PMC without even a second of thinking. Nothing bad will happen, only that without ads PMC has no income and will be forced to shut down the site. So why not?

We all understand I do want this conversation to maintain civilized. If you would like to speak with me privately I would appreciate it this thread is getting out of hand for all of us. You have to understand there are other options that are far more reasonable and effective such as user submitted ads. You can keep your ways but from a 50/50 perspective as I have seen half would like it and half wouldn't. Don't get me wrong, I love PMC and am only trying to help it. I would love to speak further with you about this. Please do not lock this thread. It's good for everyone to listen and hear everyone's opinion.

Honestly, instead of bothering Paril with "remove this ad, remove that ad" just put in ad block. If you want to help out the site then turn off adblock but don't complain. It's like you having a switch to turn off/on a light but your complaining that it's on, don't complain, just turn it off if you don't like it.

Any pop-up ads or generally any ads that interfere with your standard browsing should be reported to Paril to be removed

To be honest, this thread is extremely stupid and shouldn't be allowed on PMC. So many of these posts have been made, and the answer never changes. If you don't want ads use adblock, adblock covers all ads. If you don't like adblock use a different software, there is always a software that works. If you are too lazy to find one, they you deserve ads. Ads are NOT controlled by Planet Minecraft and without ads Planet Minecraft wouldn't exist. You should be thankful for ads instead of going against it.

I usually don't have a problem with ads, but I literally feel like just giving up every time I see the one with women in revealing clothing. I mean freaking 9 year olds have to end up seeing that. Those advertisements make me so angry it's not even real

Just get adblock from the googlestore using chrome! It doesn't download a virus and it's free. In addition, why are you trying to download a browser extension from CNET?

They still get the money from the ad if you use adblock. All adblock does is remove the html code from the browser when you connect if I'm correct.

By doing that it also removes the monetization from you. The ads are there to be clicked and when you click they get payed. As soo by viewing and with no code to show you the ad no money is earned for them. Either way PMC makes bank they don't need ads they can just have user submitted friendly ads like DeviantArt. This would be fantastic as they can review the ads before and make sure they are legal and not including pornographic or political ads and other such things within the criteria. I understand mentioning pornography as a temp bannable punishment so Paril you can go ahead but as I clearly state here I DID NOT STATE IT IN A GOOD LIGHT. Therefore I do not condone or will ever condone you or your staff banning someone for that. It's been done before.

On PC, ads are fine, but on mobile, there is a problem. I hate getting redirected to Candy Crush every five seconds. And on a computer, there are those autoplay ads that get annoying when you hear a random squeak every 10 seconds. That's why I use adblock.

Report them to us. You have to understand that our third party manages hundreds of ad providers, which in turn means there are tens of thousands of unique ads that are being presented - every day, ads are being rotated out, and it depends entirely on your targeting what you are being shown.
We can't fix this problem if you never report the ads. There's no feasible way for either us nor our ad provider to know what every single user is seeing, ad-wise, at any given point because the provider can change the ad being shown based on who they are targeting.

Excuse me, but where do you get off claiming that you know how much money is being made by our website, or that the money is "more than enough" for the administrator? This isn't a side business, this is two human livelihoods you're talking about here.
As for the half naked girl ads - if they are inappropriate, report them. We then can actually do something about them. We don't control the ads apart from that. We aren't clicking the "show users naked women" button to make extra money.

Use AdBlock and the Ads will go? Its as simple as that. And when did people get all scared of Ads with 'Half naked girls'. Get over it, they support the website and cause little to no distractions. If you see any truly bad Ads, send a PM to a Site Admin.
I'm sure 3 Ads will not bother you, considering they help to keep this great website up and running.

We don't use Google for our ads. We don't, and won't, rely on donations as we aren't a non-profit organization. AdBlock is free and, assuming you get it from the proper place (Chrome Store, etc) there's nothing malicious about it. There are only three ads per page that I can see for myself, plus the occasional skin ad, but none get in the way. If any ads redirect you, report them to us so we can send it down the chain to get removed.

User submitted ads probably wouldn't work out so great, someone could easily submit a phishing site or one with a virus and it seems like it would be a lot of hassle. They use ads to keep the site up and running

I understand but the fact of the amount and like I said using adblock a payed software for this isn't worth it and downloading it from CNET only starts an autorun path which install a virus in the background.

CNET is absolutely the worst place to download anything from.

um adblock is completely free....I made no purchases and of course downloading it from some other website besides the official one might have viruses. If you download it from here:

Yep but that doesn't help with google ads and 90% of all the plugins are viruses. Wish they had one legit that doesn't setup a KL.
