Anyone been in any natural disasters?
I've been very interested in tornado's lately, as I am very scared of any type of natural disaster, let me explain what a natural disaster is:
A natural disaster is something not caused by man, but by nature, like a volcano erupting, a tornado, earthquake etc.
I wouldn't call this a natural disaster, but the only one I've been in was when I was at my school and we were studying (can't remember what since I've moved to homeschool now, it was a long time back), we were apparently on the tip end of a tornado (the tip end of a tornado is when a tornado is happening in another country or another continent and the tip end is where the strong wind is) and when it was break time, we had to go back inside, one of my friends was pushed over and nearly dragged away by the wind if it were not for me helping him, and for my friend helping me not get pushed over, it was a very powerful wind and almost as powerful as a hurricane.
Some suspect that it was a hurricane, but I don't believe that considering at the time there was a tornado going on in America at the time.
EDIT: Also another reason I knew it wasn't a hurricane was that it didn't destroy anything in my village.

I've been in many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many (I think you get the point) hurricanes, tornadoes, blizzards, floods, and all that fun stuff...
And then the next day it was 90 degrees (Fahrenheit).
I think there was also a small earthquake here a few years ago....

Only a bunch of floods that cancelled school. #straya

Tornado.
I was scared as heck.
We narrowly missed it. And the strange thing is, we aren't supposed to get tornadoes in Manitoba.

In March California had an earthquake. MY chair fell over, it was very traumatizing.

I watched a tornado wreck through my town once.

California firestorms of 2007 and, more recently, 2014. North San Diego County was almost in the exact middle both times, with the city I live in remaining relatively untouched.
I remember in 2007, though, we could see the fires burning on the mountain crests all around us. And, boy, did that ash fall thick. 'Twas like snow.

The biggest thing that has happened where i live, is that some snow fell over a kid and she died.
Does that even count as a natural disaster?

I don't get earthquakes at all, Especially the ones in christchurch, The main one was 7.1, No deaths. But 6 Months later an aftershock of 6.3 Killed 185 People. Pretty confusing
But, Lucky you. It was pretty deep though, Wasn't it?

when I used to live in southern USA, apparently there was a tornado. Except it never hit (I was like 3 at the time so I don't remember)
like I said a while ago, a few cyclones (more like mega storms that came off them), floods, meh. Rain and power loss, the most annoying thing on a six-week summer holiday.

Sweden has pretty much no bigger tornados or earthquakes, none of the kinds that destroy houses and shit... But there has been lots of floods around the area that my grandma lives lately. Also, maybe not a true natural disaster, but I've been in a so-called black rainstorm when I was in Hong Kong (e.g. a thunderstorm with massive amounts of rain and thunder claps that literally shook the house ). Couldn't sleep well that night - it was loud as HELL.

In 2010 Over here there was so much snow we actually couldn't get out of the house to go to school -.- My mum had to put up the flood gate because the snow was so deep cars were literally buried in it.

Let's see:
3 Earthquakes (2 easily felt, 1st one completely strong, screwed up the glasses and our coffee-heater thingy, last one was just a quick tiny shake)
Strong winds (It was just in November last year. That's it)
Drought (2009)

Wrong, My grandparent's farm (Luckily not their house, Just a few buildings) were completely destroyed

Well I do remember there was this blizzard back in 2003. So much snow; the little kid in me said it was a winter wonderland.
...While cars skidded around on the road and were blocked by icebergs of a pile.
And then all the slush, snow, and wind chills during November-January. Just call it Winter storm 2014 why won't you.. Every few days there were sudden snow storms, rain, and slush falling from the sky.
It was harder when you had a mandatory swimming class as the last period class in that semester as well.
But other than being in some heat waves or freezing half to death, there aren't much exciting things here in NYC. We had a tremor or two from a earthquake before and my siblings blamed me that I shook the apartment when I fell. So there's that.

I am the most uninteresting person on the face of the planet.

We were so close to a tornado the sky was green
with tornado watches and warnings. It went 1 mile off our town.
Dodged a bullet.

Yay for Britain, one of the best countries to be in if you hate natural disasters like me.

my family was on a road trip, we saw a tornado forming, and it was chasing us for a lil while. Thank god it didn't touch the ground

Heavy rain and earthquakes pretty much

I live in Florida and have been in many hurricanes. We don't really worry too much, we still drive around and hang out with friends.

I'm in a thunderstorm right now, (the mounted dishes are rattling..) but I've been through two tornados and a good amount of floods, I used to live in spencer nc, (three years ago) and this one tornado skipped over our house, destroyed a few up rooted this huge tree and ripped off the face of the walmart and drugstore there was glass being flung every were in the drug store and people rushed to the back, as far as I know no one died.

Does heavy Irish rain count xD
1
It does, they can destroy houses if it causes a flood, they are the most powerful Disaster of 'em all.

I'm very fortunate to never have been in one. I have some family that my mom and I are very close with that lived in Mississippi when hurricane Katrina struck though. We watched the news in horror and were terrified they were dead for weeks. Thankfully they were all completely unharmed and called us from a Red Cross shelter, but sometimes they think about the experience and tell stories about when the storm hit and almost crushed some of my cousins with a tree that fell though their house.

I was in a tornado system on May 8, 2008 that knocked out a whole section of the US (Practically the whole midwest, but mainly Southern Illinois.) and noone cared because there were no deaths.
1
Ever heard of the super minor Kansas earthquake that knocked down one chair?
I was in it.
I was in it.

Oh oh god.. D- did you die??!!
1
Tornado, but I wasn't actually inside of it :p
1
Fractured 3 ribs in a mudslide. XD
1
There have been some funnel clouds and tornadoes in my area, but none right at my house. I've felt some small vibrations from earthquakes, not sure exactly where they happened or how big they were though. Nothing too bad, thank goodness.
1
I know you live fairly close to me, did you feel the small earthquake a couple months ago?
1
I'm really terrified of any storms at all. Like, at all. I've been in a couple minor tornadoes, and a small earthquake.
1
I'm terrified of them too ;-;

There was a tornado in my pasture's, but no Ponies were hurt luckily.

2 blizzards and the October storm. The blizzards trap you inside and the October storm knocked out power for up to a week.

Hurricane Sandy and Hurricane Irene

I was in a flash flood. It only flooded the streets, but there was debris floating down it like no tomorrow. My friend's basement's back wall collapsed, and his house nearly imploded, but everything was fixed.

Did anyone see that massive Cyclone in Australia (2011)? The eye was meant to pass right over the city. Fortunately it went south but we lost power for a few days (probably to check if the grid was intact).
But in 2006 (I think) I was in the middle of Cyclone Larry. I just found a bunch of brown lumps on my laptop... Anyway, I saw a tree in the distance fly up into the sky. Also a tree fell beside my room.
In 2008 (I think) there was maybe going to be a tsunami hitting the city. I got taken home and there was no tsunami.
