I changed the title so I didn't need to start a new topic.
I was wondering if I would be able to run minecraft with sonic ethers shaders 30+ fps on 1080p with the upcoming MSI GX60. If I won't be able to what about on 720p?
MSI GX60:
15.6 FHD (1920x1080) Matte / Screen
2048mb AMD 7970m / Graphics Card
AMD A10-4600m / Processor
8gb DDR3 1600MHz
750Gb 7200RPM / Hard Drive

By the way it's a laptop (title says it)

ATI is a graphics company, similar to nvidia.
AMD is a processor company, similar to Intel.

ATI and AMD are definitely in bed together tho : )

I think that AMD bought ATI. Any card with the ATI name is out of date, to my knowledge. Even though they are the same thing, the one that says AMD is probably more up to date.

Just keep in mind that ATI is dead.

(Correct me if I'm wrong, guys)

No no, you are correct; ATI was a publicly listed company; in 2006 AMD bought out ATI.

Wait so the newest mobile gpu is the amd radeon (not including nvidia) 7970m
But there is an ati radeon 7970m. How would it be out dated?

People probably still -refer- to it as the ATi Radeon 7970m, but it is actually the AMD Radeon 7970m. AMD dropped the ATi name a while back.

Ok I'm gonna get an msi gx60 with amd a10 and an amd 7970m.
For $1,199. Should I get it? I saw some people say that amd didn't run OpenGL games right (wait isn't Minecraft OpenGL?). If it will run Minecraft fine and with shaders I'm gonna get it :) post what you think. I want portability so I'm not getting a desktop
