Enough proof yet?
Would've done the same thing if my desktop wasn't so crowded.
Audacity isn't known for malware, it's known to be IN malware installers. Such as "FREE TOOLBARS" and freeware. Always be careful!
ok thanks, i guess im going to have to do some work on my computer..... then i shall get it.

VirusTotal scans are extremely unreliable

Ah, if you got audacity from a sketchy source, then that was likely the problem. The above link should really help.

Love how everyone is making suggestions and they don't even know what he wants to do. Are you planning on editing audio such as sound files and such? Use Audacity. If you want to make your own music, then grab FL Studio. It's good for beginners. But if you're serious about making music you should grab Ableton Live 9.

I'd go with Audacity if you're only editing. I use Ableton Live 9 for making music but not for editing. And Audacity can remove static (background noise) from clips with a couple of clicks, it's very easy to do.

He was asking for suggestions. We worked with the info he gave.

Lex The Galladespires33i have googles this for a few minutes now, and everything i see looks fake.
a little help on what to use?
FL studio is a paid advanced audio editing software, available for paid use.
FL Studio does have a free unlimited trial. As long as you don't need to save and reopen anything it will work fine! Otherwise IDK... XD

Well, what do you want to do with the audio?

Audacity is the way to go. I also recommend WavePad.

Audacity does have a heavy impact on your computer if the file is very large. I do not know much about Adobe audition CC, but since its CC I think its a paid program. Audacity is free. make your choice.

No offence but if audacity slowed down your PC I guess its time for a new one? Its pretty light program as far as I know, unlike other audio editing software's.

the website i downloaded it from looked kinda... scetchy... it wasn't even open when it lagged me.

I agree with this guy, all things I downloaded from sourceforge were legit, at least I think they were... But the point is it is pretty safe.

Do you have an antivirus program?
If not get AVG, Avast or Avira. They are all good, free antiviruses.
AVG: http://free.avg.com/ca-en/free-antivirus-download
Avast: https://www.avast.com/en-ca/index
Avira (Recommended): http://www.avira.com/en/avira-free-antivirus

+1. Audacity is nothing compared to so many other apps. If audacity won't run or if it slows down your computer then your going to need a new one.
