I am building a large(r) airport. As a successor to the Silverstone Bay regional airport I have built some time ago, this airport is designed to handle about 16 737s. I am currently wondering how would the security/ customs checkpoint look like, along with features that I can implement found in real airports. I am also wondering how would runway/taxi markings would look like (my first markings didn't look like it was up to airport standards). Let me know if there is anything that you would like to see.

I think I hit a problem. After Remodeling my preexisting original design into scale with the airplanes, This week long project has exceeded its time budget as well as the anticipated size. Here is a picture of an MD-11 being used for lot scaling purposes.
Click to reveal
Fun fact 1: This airport terminal is all powered by redstone, which will have active controls.
Fun fact 2: This airplane is too big, and its smaller than a 747.
Fun fact 3: This terminal has passive and active fire controls/ sprinkler system. I have no idea why you would need one.
Fun fact 4: This terminal is over 1,290 blocks long (or will be).
Fun fact 5: Even If I release it, I do not recommend people with budget computers to play it (as seen in Fun Fact 1) since it has active lighting control.
Fun fact 6: It is recommended for people to catch their flights using horses.

Just wondering if my airport markings are correct, I've been studying road markings for airplanes and this is what I came up with.
- This is a prototype company model Boeing 737 "Virgin America" series. The text is the best I can come up with on such a small area.
- I also assume that the markings are correct since nobody is complaining about them.

For street markings, I would put signs under carpet.

Ah Homing, I did a double check on the scale of my aircraft and it seems to be possibly smaller than your aircraft, But is large enough to feature details. The Boeing 737 is 15 blocks tall and the 777 is 20 blocks tall (both excluding the vertical stabilizer). I'm not sure what ratio my airplane would be in, but based on the majority of 1:1 scale airplanes I reviewed on PMC, I'd say its about 1-1/2 :1.
Although it is a guess. The sheer size of the scaled airplanes makes me confused, but I'm going to disregard it as the concourse size seems to agree with it.
Also, the these on-board restrooms are cramped, or the will be represented by taking a width of 2 blocks, which I believe is an accurate portrayal.

What other aircraft should I model? Besides this 777-300 and the 737-700 (which is not shown), what kind of other common airplanes should I use to revise the airport with?

I found the 777-300 was more like a 200, so copied it and expanded it, so now I have a 200 (slightly) and a 300. For the 400 I think I'll have to expand the entire concourse so it is large enough. It currently handles 737s with ease however.
Should I also make a MD-11, anything of the Airbus family, or rebuild the entire airport to fit the Antonov An-225 Mriya?

I went for a long time without an A380. People seemed to like it.
BTW I'm opening up my builds for others to use (under certain agreements). I was thinking you might be interested.

Still going to build my own aircraft (cause I need practice anyway for my Chicago build).
The airport contest you guys stated:
"7. Your not aloud to use other people aircraft (even with there permission)"
So it looks like I still have to reverse engineer my own aircraft.

i love how the airport nerds automatically swarmed to this post

You may want to start with the planes. The sizes aren't really close to the real ones.

I did recall that the planes I made was the LAST thing I built. I built that airport in under 2 days. This one I'm doing now Is taking weeks since I'm constantly revising the layout model.
UPDATE AS OF 7/24/2014 I've made my fourth aircraft today to test out the terminal sizes I had preexisting. This model is based off of a Boeing 777-300 that took me 6ish hours to build. So far, it looks like the main terminal can seat 8 of these things instead of the proposed 16. I am going to have to expand some areas to fit more of these things (along with scaling a 737 for more practice).

Qmanswell i have looked at the airport you had allready built you really need to work on the planes for a start
also every good airport needs to be able to take alest 200 planes a day (eg lax kansai hkia jfk) and you need your security to be easy to go to and thru like homingdbs one thats easy to get thru or irl changi is a good airport
also a good airport needs a wow factor at the gate like a garden art etc
p.s if you building you might be intersted in this http://www.planetminecraft.com/forums/qmans-international-airport-contest-t395339.html
I know that the plane design is horrendously outdated (checked them last month). Right now I am trying to install a large plaza at the main concourse, parking garages, and a hotel within the perimeter. I am also trying to figure out how to include two more terminals (international/ recreational).
